With album sales approaching 2 million in less than two years, Scotty McCreery has emerged as one of country's hottest new stars. He has earned a gold and platinum album, two gold singles, and two consecutive album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.

After winning Season Ten of American Idol, Scotty released his debut album, which was the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. Indeed, he became the youngest man in history to have his first album debut atop the all-genre Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

Scotty McCreery is Headed to the Clovis Rodeo in April

Scotty McCreery will perform at the Clovis Rodeo in April 2014. SPECIAL TO THE FRESNO BEE

The Clovis Rodeo will celebrate its 100th year with a pair of concerts from two of country music's up-and-coming stars — "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery and Nashville singer Tyler Farr.
The concerts are sponsored by KISS Country and immediately follow Thursday and Friday night's rodeo performances on April 24-25.  The choices pay homage to country music's past, present and future.

McCreery has a deep bass voice that lends itself to more traditional country music. While he has his foot in the contemporary county scene, "we keep the traditional nuances in the music," he says.

The 20-year-old singer has been busy since he won American Idol in 2011. He's released three albums, including his platinum-selling debut. He's won both the American Country Music and the Academy of Country Music awards for best new artist (in 2011 and 2012, respectively).  Still, the rodeo is the kind of venue he can use to establish himself as a country artist and not just a TV star. More than that, "They're fun to do," he says.

With these kinds of gigs, you get to hang out and mingle with the fans, McCreery says. "So we're enjoying ourselves."
Tickets are $20-$30 and are on sale now at www.clovisrodeo.com.
Tickets will be available via phone at the Clovis Rodeo box office starting March 3 and on-site March 5.
