The Raleigh, N.C., native is known for his vocals. It’s impressive to hear McCreery sing – not just because it’s surprising that he’s able to sing with a deep register, but he’s able to do so with control. At various points in his performance, the country music singer easily hit high notes and even held them for a few seconds. Despite his lower register, McCreery’s performance Thursday showcased his vocal range.
McCreery proved that he was truly a country singer Thursday night.
And McCreery proved he was also a giving man last
night. Thursday’s performance at the Oakdale served as a benefit concert
for the 12.14 Foundation, with McCreery donating all proceeds to the
organization. During the middle of his performance, he asked people in
the crowd to send a text message to a phone number to make a $10
donation to the 12.14 Foundation.
From just Thursday’s ticket sales, McCreery said, “we’ve raised $60,000.”
The foundation has a mission to “build and operate a
landmark performing arts center in Newtown,” according to the
organization’s website.
“This facility will serve the dual purpose of
memorializing and honoring those lost on (Dec. 14, 2012), and providing a
venue that supports many forms of healing and positive change,” the
website states.
