ACC basketball tournament, Scotty McCreery teaming up; tickets on sale Friday - News-Record.com: Local News


GREENSBORO – The ACC is teaming with country music sensation Scott McCreery for the opening day of the men's basketball tournament in Greensboro on March 12.
Tickets for three games, which are sold separately from the tournament book, and a concert by the Garner native will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. The price for the day is $35.
 


Tipoffs are scheduled for 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Seating is general admission.
Ticketholders will also be treated to a performance by McCreery inside the Greensboro Coliseum after the conclusion of the second game of the day (about 6 p.m.).

“With our conference expansion this year, we felt it was important to do something special to celebrate the start of this historic, 15-team ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament,” ACC commissioner John Swofford said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to purchase a single ticket for Wednesday that includes three ACC basketball games and a performance by one of the rising young stars in the recording industry offers a tremendous value to our fans.”

Beginning Friday, tickets may be purchased through Ticketmaster online (http://theacc.co/14TourneyTix), at all Ticketmaster outlets, charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000 and the Greensboro Coliseum box office.

With album sales approaching 2 million in less than two years, McCreery has emerged as one of country's hottest new stars. He has earned a gold and platinum album, two gold singles, and two consecutive album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. His social numbers are equally impressive with a combined 2.4 million followers on Facebook and Twitter. After winning season 10 of a"American Idol," McCreery released his debut album, "Clear As Day," which was the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. His new album, See You Tonight, was released in October and also debuted atop the Billboard Country Albums chart.

The 2014 tournament will run through March 16.
