Scotty Mccreery and Florida Georgia Line Team up and Provide Water

Scotty McCreery, Florida Georgia Line Help Provide Clean Water to Children in Need By Christina Vinson September 27, 2013 Scotty McCreery and Florida Georgia Line recently joined forces with celebs like Scarlett Johansson, President Bill Clinton, Celine Dion, Justin Bieber and Morgan Freeman, but not for entertainment — it was in the name of clean water. The long list of stars used their influence for a really good cause, pushing a project called Flash Flood for Good that brings clean water to children in need who reside in three of the most affected countries in the world: Ethiopia, Myanmar and Rwanda. More than 2,000 children die each day from unsafe water, but there is hope if everyone fights against this tragedy together. Florida Georgia Line tweeted: “The #FlashFloodForGood is on! Can 1 Tweet bring 1 million kids clean drinking water for a year?” McCreery added an additional plea, writing, “Proud to lend my voice to children who need clean water to live! The #FlashFloodForGood is on! Pls donate now.” Flash Flood for Good seeks to change social media currency into real currency for 72 hours. The recent ‘flash flood’ began Sept. 24 at the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, focusing on clean water, and ended Friday (Sept. 27). Here’s how it works: if you add your Facebook and Twitter feeds to Flash Flood for Good, you’ll post together with the project. As a result, hundreds of millions of people will see their message and can donate instantly. Everyone was asked to donate $10, which provides one child with clean drinking water for a year. Hundreds of millions of people did see the message, and the project actually surpassed its original goal, reaching 544,987,860 people with the message and cleaning 1,861,500 liters of water in total. Although the flood is over, the need for clean water isn’t, and the website https://www.flashfloodforgood.org

Scotty McCreery to perform post-game concert tonight at Turner Field

Friday, Sept. 27 at Turner Field

Country star will donate to the Braves' local Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program

Season Ten American Idol winner and Platinum-selling country artist Scotty McCreery will close out his six-city Major League ballpark tour at Turner Field on Friday, Sept. 27. In a free post-game set, fans will have the first opportunity to see and hear McCreery perform new music off his upcoming Oct. 15 album release, See You Tonight.

Prior to performing, McCreery will donate $5,000 to the Braves' local Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program during a special on-field presentation. The Junior Braves/RBI Youth Baseball League presented by Delta Air Lines offers youth ages 5-18 the opportunity to play baseball. Teams are formed in under-served neighborhoods where recreation programs are most needed. McCreery will also lead the pregame Chop Rally in Fan Plaza as well as sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch.

After winning Season Ten of American Idol, Scotty quickly established himself as one of the hottest new stars in country music. His debut album was the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. He became the youngest man in history to have his first album debut atop the all-genre Billboard Top 200 albums chart. That album was certified platinum for sales of one million, and the first two singles from that album were both certified gold. In 2012, his 2012 Christmas album was certified gold. In the last two years, McCreery has performed before President Barack Obama, sung the national anthem at the World Series and performed in the Macy's Day Parade. He was named Top New Artist by Billboard and won best new artist awards at the Academy of Country Music Awards, the American Country Awards and the CMT Awards.

To purchase tickets for the game and free admission to the post-game concert, please visit braves.com/tickets, the Braves Ticket Office at Turner Field, the Braves Clubhouse Store at the CNN Center, all Ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

See You Tonight Album Preview by Scotty McCreery

This is a portion of Scotty's new biography on his official page.  To read the complete biography click on the link below :)
Credit to: scottymccreery.com
http://www.scottymccreery.com/biography

”The album was shaped by a fateful songwriting session he booked with Zach Crowell and Ashley Gorley that produced “See You Tonight” and “Can You Feel It.” “We were in one of those writing sessions where we didn’t go in there with a specific thought in mind,” he says. “We got lucky that day. ‘Can You Feel It’ is a swampy-sounding song that reminds me of the outdoors, nature, and it even talks about that in the song.”

Of “See You Tonight, he says, “We were hashing around ideas and we started playing a loop on the guitar. We said, ‘What does this make you think of?’ We talked about how that loop made you think about wanting to go see a girl. We started writing it, and before you know it, we thought, ‘Wow, this is a pretty good one!’ We finished the day and we were pretty excited with what we wrote.”

“Something More” describe his yearning for more substance in his country music than is often found in today’s songs. “I grew up with the older-style country, so you hear the more heartfelt things, whether it was somebody hurting or dying. These are songs that had a deep meaning to them and are more than just riding around in a truck and falling in love with a hot girl. I enjoy listening to something that has a deep meaning to it.”

But that’s not to say that the North Carolina State sophomore doesn’t let his fun side show on his sophomore project. He co-wrote “Now,” which is a rocking country song that says, “We don’t care where it is or when it is,” he says. “Let’s get the party started right now. We had fun recording that one.”

Two of the album’s songs have titles that can be misleading at first glance. The McCreery-penned “I Don’t Want to Be Your Friend,” isn’t about distancing himself from a young woman, but instead getting closer. “It’s a guy talking about, ‘You’ve got your girls to hang out with and do girly things like paint your nails and I’ve got my guys to watch football with. So we’ve got that covered and I don’t want to do that with you. I want to be more than that: I want to be somebody who has a relationship with you.’”

“Feel Good Summer Song” is the antithesis of a carefree summer anthem. It describes a heartbroken man who desperately wants to heal his pain and move on with his life. “But every time he turns on the radio station, he just hears another feel-good country song,” he says. “He says, ‘How can I get over you when every station is playing a feel-good country song?’”

That song, as well as “Forget to Forget You,” address heartache, which is something new on a McCreery album. Clear as Day predominantly featured happy-go-lucky songs, and while See You Tonight offers a full menu of party and good-time, good-feelin’ selections, McCreery wanted to tackle new themes this time around. “I’ve had these feelings before,” he says. “Anybody who is a teenager has been there before. People relate to it and it’s one of those emotions that you can’t put on the back burner. It’s real and it hurts. There’s something about country music. Even if the song is about heartbreak, you can listen to it and try to feel better about the situation you are in.”

Perhaps it’s no surprise that McCreery’s favorite song on his new album is “Carolina Moon,” a traditional country song that he knew he wanted to record as soon as he heard the first verse and chorus. “It hits home with me, growing up in North Carolina. The song talks about being on the road touring and missing home.” He was honored that Alison Krauss, one of the best singers in any genre, agreed to record the song with him. “That took the song over the top,” he says. “She is wonderful and has such an iconic and beautiful voice.”

While “Carolina Moon” is McCreery’s favorite, some of his closest friends prefer another song. “With me being in college, I live with three buddies, so I bounced ideas and songs off of them,” he says. “So far, they are partial to ‘Feeling It,’ so we’ll see how that one does. My roommates say that one is going to be my biggest song yet!”

Miley Cyrus, Scotty McCreery make Billboard ‘Hottest Minors’ list

Billboard released its 21 under 21: Music’s Hottest Minors 2013 list this week and two artists with Music City ties made the list: Miley Cyrus is No. 3 and Scotty McCreery is No. 8.

Cyrus, 20, has been in headlines constantly the last few weeks for reasons including nudity in her “Wrecking Ball” video, her controversial performance with Robin Thicke on MTV’s Video Music Awards and her break-up with fiancΓ© actor Liam Hemsworth.

McCreery, 19, has also made the news, but in a different way — he recently donated $50,000 to youth sports programs, is sponsoring an underprivileged child overseas through World Vision and is encouraging his fans to do the same. In addition, McCreery released a new video for his current single “See You Tonight.” It contains no nudity or wrecking balls, but does feature trucks, soldiers and hand-holding.

Both Cyrus and McCreery are releasing new albums in the coming weeks. Cyrus’ “Bangerz” is due in stores Oct. 8 and McCreery’s “See You Tonight” will be released Oct. 15.

Scotty McCreery ‘American Idol’ winner stops at Luhrs Center

By JOZALYN GREGOR
Updated: 09/23/13 10:36pm

scotty1
Scotty McCreery serenades the audience on Friday night.

Country music superstar Scotty McCreery graced H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center with his soulful and deep voice Friday, Sept. 20, as part of his “Weekend Roadtrip” tour.  Angie Johnson, Season 2 contestant on NBC’s “The Voice,” opened the show for McCreery.   Her powerful vocals impressed the entire crowd and although she sang several songs off her EP, it was her rendition of Adele’s, “Rolling in the Deep,” that had the audience singing along and praising the former Air Force staff sergeant.

The sold-out show had audience members on the edge of their seats and even on their feet the entire time.
Starting the show with, “Rock this Night,” the American Idol Season 10 winner quickly set a fun, energetic tone for the night.

McCreery, 19, from Garner, N.C.s had the audience hanging on his every low note all night.
From babies to senior citizens and everything inbetween, the audience cheered loud and sang along with McCreery all night. During the popular song “Write My Number on Your Hand,” audience members participated in a popular McCreery show ritual.  Prior to the end of the song, McCreery stopped singing, allowing audience members to enjoy his band playing, during which girls from every age group, rushed the stage to have Scotty write his number on their hands. A new tradition during the song, for many it was a highlight of the evening.

During the hour and a half set, McCreery performed songs from his debut album “Clear as Day,” released in 2011 and his sophomore album “See You Tonight,” to be released Oct. 15.
Along with his own songs, many written by the young artist, McCreery also performed a number of covers including “Do You Love Me,” by George Strait, a beautiful rendition of “The Dance,” by Garth Brooks, and “Celebrity,” by Scotty’s previous tour mate, Brad Paisley, who made a hilarious appearance via video prior to the song.  The University of North Carolina undergraduate took time from singing to talk about his appreciation to be in Shippensburg.

Being from a small town in N.C., McCreery told the crowd about his appreciation of “grass roots.”
Proudly standing on stage, McCreery said he is proud to “wave the good flag of country music,” causing the crowd to erupt into a roar of cheers and applause.   The show ended with a standing ovation.

While McCreery may have gotten his start on “American Idol”, anyone given the opportunity to watch him live would easily argue that he is much more than a singing competition winner.  With a voice and charisma well beyond his 19 years, McCreery put on a show that made Shippensburg proud to say they were a pit stop on his “Weekend Roadtrip.”

Click on the link below to view the video - It's a great interview!!

http://us995.cbslocal.com/2013/09/24/scotty-mccreery-makes-impact-on-kids-visits-us99-5-in-cnn-feature/

CNN featured American Idol winner Scotty McCreery in their “Impact Your World” video series for his contributions to helping kids in need, highlighting his recent visit to US99.5′s Blue Cross Blue Shield Performance Stage.
Scotty opens the clip saying, “I could have never imagined or prepared for what was going to happen to me.”
After winning American Idol and becoming a Country music star while still attending college, he has made himself a role model for kids and uses his success for a great cause.
Since Scotty’s two favorite things are music and baseball, the RBI Program and MLB is a perfect fit for him. The charity is helping revitalize baseball for kids in the inner city, and his experience playing baseball while growing up and learning how to persevere helps him connect with them.
