Scotty McCreery roadtrips to Myrtle Beach this weekend

If you’re still kicking yourself for  missing North Carolina native and “American Idol” Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery at last year’s Azalea Festival, you can finally give yourself a break. With a tour opening for Brad Paisley and a year at North Carolina State University under his belt,  the Academy of Country Music’s 2012 New Artist of the Year is coming to the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach this Sunday as part of his Weekend Roadtrip Tour 2013.

The tour will feature mostly hits from McCreery’s first album, 2011′s “Clear As Day,” including “The Trouble With Girls,” “Water Tower Town,” and “I Love You This Big.” Fans will also get a sneak peek at some new material that’s set to be released later this year.

The 19-year-old has released two studio albums, his debut “Clear As Day” as well as “Christmas with Scotty McCreery,” which was released last October. “Day” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning McCreery the title of both first country act to debut at No. 1 with its first studio album, as well as youngest man to open at the top of the charts with his debut (McCreery also holds the title of youngest winner of “American Idol”). The debut album went on the garner No. 1 spots on five separate Billboard charts and is certified platinum. “Christmas,” certified gold, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
