March 23 was a big day for country music fans who arrived from all over the state for an appearance by American Idol winner Scotty McCreery. He included Katy, Texas in his 2013 Weekend Roadtrip Tour and played for throngs who enjoyed the food, rides, a variety of bands—and especially Scotty’s signature deep vocals.

We climbed aboard his tour bus and were greeted with his famous smile and iconic cross necklace. He was raised by parents who taught him to be polite, humble, and appreciative of the many blessings which have come his way since winning Season 10 finale of American Idol. He was just 16 at the audition and became the youngest male Idol winner (at 17) in the show’s history with a record-breaking 122 million fan votes. He joined fellow Idols and finalists including Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert in producing No. 1 hits.

As the youngest male artist to open at the top of the all-genre chart with a debut album  release, Clear as Day, he watched his hard work pay off in just 13 weeks as the album became certified platinum (over one million sold) in the U.S. “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls”became gold singles. Christmas with Scotty McCreery, his 2012 holiday album, was also certified gold.

  2. Love, Love this Article says it all from the beginning to stardom for our Scotty. He is just one of these people you love from idol picked him right from the start. ILYTB has touched my life since the night he sang it because as ya'll know my husband use to say that to me all the time and now that he is with the Lord these kind of memories are here in songs and Scotty has had many and Christmas in Heaven it got me through Christmas and I've read so many different people say that about that song. It just is so good when you have lost someone you love. This article talks about where it started and his days at the beginning, his family who has been with him from day one, his management team and crew and his friends and the band cannot be the best ever so glad Scotty got these guys they seem so much like Scotty very layed back and they have become really good friends and that's what I think you need to get through this business. So proud of all of them and I think Scotty and his band will be around a long time and I'm going to be here every step of the way. Just love reading stuff like this. Thanks Donna and crew for posting all of these. ILYTB
