

"College was always big for me before this thing happened," McCreery tells Roughstock. "It was one of those things where I had to think about it and wonder if I was going to sacrifice anything."

However, advice on schooling isn't the only useful bits of knowledge that McCreery has been soaking up from the likes of Garth Brooks and Brad Paisley. "I tell you what … especially from those two guys," says McCreery, "they really just live by something that we all get taught from being a toddler, and that’s pretty much in a roundabout way, treat others like you want to be treated. That’s probably the biggest thing that I’ve learned from Paisley throughout his tour. I would go out in a ballcap and hoodie to watch him perform pretty much every night with the fans. They didn’t know it was me, but I was out there with them seeing him perform. I learned more from him backstage and how he treated his crew and how he ran his tour and was just such a class act.
