Apple Blossom Festival Announces Scotty McCreery as Grand Marshal

By: Hayley Mason Updated: April 5, 2013

WINCHESTER, VA- 2011 American Idol Winner Scotty McCreery will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 86th Celebration of the Blooms.

The 20 year old country music superstar will be one of the youngest Grand Marshal's in the festivals history. Festival officials say McCreery is a role model and will be a welcome fit into the spirit and culture of the festival.

McCreery rose to fame in 2011, when, at just 17, he became the youngest male to win American Idol, as well as the competitions first country male winner. He is a native of Garner, North Carolina. His debut album, "Clear as Day" topped the Billboard 200 and top country music charts. He is featured in the Guinness World Records Book for being the youngest male in history to have a number one album on the all-genre chart with a debut release.

The Festival Staff says it is grateful to David and Paige Gum and White House Foods who helped sponsor the effort, making it possible for McCreery to be in Winchester for the festival.
McCreery will be featured in the Grand Feature Parade on Saturday May 4 and also at the Firefighters' Parade on Friday, May 3.

Tickets for all festival events are now on sale at the Festival Souvenir Store and Ticket Outlet at 107 Millwood Avenue.
