Scotty McCreery Plays Teacher at Illinois Tour Stop

Accomplishing more in a 90-minute set than most 19-year-old college kids accomplish in the entirety of their spring break, country crooner Scotty McCreery took his “Weekend Roadtrip Tour” at Paramount Theatre in Aurora, Ill., as the perfect opportunity to teach us all a little something.
He introduced the music of Strait, Haggard and Cash to 12-year-old girls with flowers in their hair. He sang the music of Elvis and Garth Brooks to mothers and grandmothers. And as he has done since the moment he introduced himself to the world on American Idol as Scott McCreery, he spoke without saying a word via a cross bouncing up and down from around his neck. Yet there were also moments throughout the evening when Scotty reminded us all that he is still just a freshman in college with some insatiable cravings.
“Here I am in Chicago and I didn’t get any dad-gum deep-dish pizza,’ he said with the “aww shucks” attitude that made America fall in love with him in the first place.
Kicking off the night with the older sounding, yet still purely innocent new single “Rock the Night," Scotty and his fans were off for the ride. Fronting a five-piece band and wiping the sweat off his brow like a major league pitcher, Scotty pleased the sold-out crowd with favorites such as “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls,” and created a tween frenzy by signing a handful of autographs on “Write Your Number on my Hand.” He also gave anxious fans an early listen to some new material, including “Suntan” [with the line nothing better than a hot girl with cool shades] and what he called "the first good song I think I have written,"  “See U Tonight."
“All I have ever wanted to do was wave the country music flag loud and proud for y’all,” he exclaimed towards the end of the evening.
So far, you have, Scotty. We give you an A.

    1. Me too. Scotty is "killing it" on this tour!! I think this "thinking out of the box" is going to pay off big time for Scotty's career! I know he hasn't had a single out for a while (hopefully VERY VERY VERY soon) but he is winning over tons of people and gaining new fans everywhere he goes!! Great job Todd and great job Scotty!!!

  2. Our Scotty gets great reviews from everywhere he performs. I still saved my newspaper clipping from the Niagara Falls concert where he got a fantastic review. It is so exciting because our paper never writes any articles about any other performers. He leaves everyone amazed with his super performances.
Thank you Donna for having these many reviews on your site. We all appreciate all the time consuming work you put into this site!

    1. Hmmm, didn't really pick up on that when I read the article. I thought maybe they would release "See You Tonight" as the first single off the sophomore album, but I would love to hear Scotty "ROCK THIS NIGHT" on the American Idol stage, which hopefully he will do on one of those last two Thursdays of the show which, as far as we know, are still open slots and Scotty does not have a prior commitment (other than maybe final exams). I prefer SYT as a single and RTN on the American Idol stage, but I know we can't have it both ways. Hahaha!! I am thinking, as far as the above article is concerned, that the writer is referring to "Rock This Night" as a single, not necessarily THE single, but I dunno. We'll see hopefully REALLY SOON!!! Scotty just looks and sounds like a superstar singing that song. I love the performance of RTN in Charleston, WV, he is really pumped because all his family and friends are there, and he really belts it out in stellar fashion. I have watched it over and over!!

  6. Scotty can really use a lot of votes on the one poll,he's up against Christian Kane, and he's getting hammered.Scotty has 28% vs
Kane at 70 something.I think the poll is The new 107.5 H ottest man in country music.Kane won last year also,I myself really don't know who he is but the ladies seem to like his looks,he might have been on a tv,sitcom.
