Garner-grown Scotty McCreery to front Bojangles' new ad campaign

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A North Carolina native is now the face of a popular North Carolina eatery.
Bojangles' announced on Thursday that American Idol winner and Garner-grown Scotty McCreery is the front man of a new campaign.
Given that stereotypically, the 'South' tends to bring to mind southern cooking and country music, Bojangles' says McCreery is a perfect fit.
“I’m proud to partner with a great Southern brand like Bojangles’ that’s been such a big part of my life growing up in the Carolinas,” said McCreery, who took the entertainment world by storm in 2011 by winning the tenth season of the popular TV show at the age of 17.
The new Bojangles' ad campaign will feature craveable menu items and showcase the Southern roots that make both the country crooner and Bojangles' such fan favorites. Two spots have been produced for TV, and a series of radio commercials and merchandising elements are also set to appear in select Bojangles' markets through the company's 10-state footprint.
The new team also announced that there's something in it for you; as part of their exclusive partnership, Bojangles' and McCreery are offering fans a free song download from McCreery's new album, Christmas with Scotty McCreery.
To claim your free holiday tune, visit any Bojangles' restaurant beginning November 26, and grab your card with a unique download code. The card entitles you to your choice of one of three Christmas classics: First Noel,Jingle Bells and O Holy Night.
McCreery's holiday album hit stores October 16, and debuted at number four on the Billboard Albums Chart.

Scotty McCreery, Bojangles' finally form official partnership

Scotty McCreery’s love of Bojangles’ fried chicken was evident from his first appearances as an “American Idol” contestant.  Now, the country music singer who won the show last year is officially teaming up with the Charlotte-based fast-food franchise.

A new ad campaign that began Thursday features McCreery touting Bojangles’ in TV and radio spots. He also appears on posters, cards and other displays in Bojangles’ stores.
“Bojangles’ and Scotty share a unique Southern style,” said Randy Poindexter, senior vice president of marketing for Bojangles’, in a statement. “I’m especially proud to partner with a young man who embodies the same values of community and family that are the heart of the Bojangles’ culture.”
There are two 30-second commercials:

• “Show Time” features McCreery and his band backstage at a concert. When they are told by a stage manager that it is show time, McCreery corrects him to say, “It’s Bo Time!”

• “Bojangles’ Town” features a remix of McCreery’s “Water Tower Town” single, adding a Bojangles’ meal to other small-town scenes.

Bojangles’ also will give fans a free download from McCreery’s new holiday CD, “Christmas with Scotty McCreery.” Starting Nov. 26, Bojangles’ customers can pick up a card with a unique code that will help them download one of three songs from the CD – “Jingle Bells,” “O Holy Night” or “First Noel.”

Bojangles’ has more than 500 stores, primarily in the Southeast. This proved difficult for McCreery during his time on “Idol,” because he couldn’t get his favorite food – and Bojangles’ iced tea – in Hollywood.  At one point, Bojangles’ sent a care package to California for him.

An American Idol alum has helped raise nearly $20,000 for a pair of in-need groups right here in East Tennessee.

Scotty McCreery made a stop at the Valerium back in October. His show was part of the first-ever Q93 Mike Hammond Concert for Charity. Rodney Atkins and the Lost Trailers also performed.
On Wednesday, the tally from that concert has come in. Nearly $20,000 was raised.

The money will benefit Bethany Christian Services of Knoxville and the Helen Ross McNabb Center.
