Scotty McCreery Brings Fans to His Hometown in ‘Water Tower Town’ Video

Scotty McCreery‘s ‘Water Tower Town’ video is his visual celebration of the sights, scenes and sounds of his hometown of Garner, North Carolina. It’s a candid and true look at small town America, and we see the singer signing autographs, meeting fans and just having a good time with his fellow Garnerians. Despite his fame and fortune — which came with winning Season 10 of ‘American Idol’ — Scotty is still the same kid he was before he took the crown.
The vid is a montage of clips from the recent high school graduate’s “new” and “old” lives. Fans are shown holding signs and professing their love for him. He’s also meeting and greeting, shaking hands and being an approachable superstar. It’s essentially a love fest between McCreery and the place he calls home.
There’s footage of firefighters, friends and fans, and the ‘Water Tower Town’ video effectively doubles as a commercial for the inviting and beautiful town of Garner. It looks like the type of place you’d want to raise a family and enjoy your life.
The video is also like a yearbook of clips, in addition to being a warm and fuzzy ode to the place where Mr. ‘I Love You This Big’ hangs his hat and rests his head.
There’s no place like home! You can take the boy out of Garner, but he’ll always, always come back.

Tonight: Scotty to be featured on Noteworthy at the Opry

By Wendy Spicher
Fan favorites Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Kellie Pickler and Scotty McCreery are appropriately featured on this week’s Noteworthy at the OprySaturday, June 23 at 9 p.m./ET on Great American Country (GAC) as the episode will focus on fan loyalty, heartfelt fan stories and some of the stars’ favorite gifts they’ve received from their most loyal supporters.
“There’s not this line between the country artist and the fan,” says Brad Paisley. “They really feel like we are one with them and we really feel like we are one with them.” Performances include Carrie Underwood, (“Undo It,” and “Jesus Take the Wheel,”) Brad Paisley, (“Water” and “Celebrity” with Scotty McCreery), Rascal Flatts (“Banjo,” and “Bless the Broken Road,”) and Kellie Pickler, (“Best Days Of Your Life”).
“It feels odd saying ‘fans,’” says Kellie Pickler. “I’d rather just call them ‘friends’ because that’s what you become…it’s almost like family.”

'Idol' McCreery, Lookouts fall short

By David Uchiyama
Scotty McCreery popped the rosin bag off the back of his hand, stepped to the top of the mound at AT&T Field and wiped the rubber with his sneakers.
He looked like he had been on a mound before.
He faked shaking off the catcher twice and then rifled the ceremonial first pitch into the dirt before the Lookouts' 4-2 loss to Pensacola on Friday.
"Tonight, I was nervous as all get out," said McCreery, winner of the 2011 "American Idol" season. "Everybody I talked to said, 'Don't throw it in the dirt.' But I did."
McCreery pitched for the Garner Magnet High School (N.C.) team this past season after taking his junior year off to compete on "Idol." There's a YouTube video of a grounder bouncing up and glancing off his million-dollar throat.
"My dad pitched in college so he was like my pitching coach and he taught me all his stuff," said McCreery, whose debut album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 list. "It worked out decent, I guess."
McCreery's playing days are over except for an occasional celebrity softball game or a chance to throw out a first pitch.
"I'll always be around baseball and I love doing things like this where I can entertain fans and enjoy the game," said McCreery, who has a love for all Boston area sports teams including the Red Sox. "Country music and baseball go hand-in-hand."
McCreery spent most of Friday playing golf at The Honors Course. He said he shot in the 90s.
"That's a beautiful course and I hit some good shots," McCreery said after leading a sellout crowd of 6,372 in "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." "The next time I go, I'm putting a fishing pole in the bag because they've got some big ones in there."
