Scotty McCreery is an ACM nominee for New Artist of the Year, but for him, he’s looking forward to catching the show on Sunday night in Las Vegas from the audience as a fan. McCreery says, “Oh man, I remember just watching the show and wanting to be there. No even just be an artist on the show, I always just wanted to sit there and gaze at the artists and see the people walk on stage. And that’s still me, when I was at the… when I was at another award show I noticed that the artists were backstage and everybody was talking and stuff and I was the guy ran to the dressing room and got dressed and ran back to my seat so I didn’t miss the next performance and that’s still me. I’m still the fan, I’m still wanting to be there and so you better believe when I’m there at the ACMs I’ll be watching everybody’s performance probably catch me on camera with my jaw on the floor.”

March is a good launching pad into new music and summer concert season. Artists were tweeting regularly from the studio all month long. Some even shared a few tracks early. However, the top tweets from March lean toward the random. It’s Dierks Bentley‘s interesting find in Australia and Rascal Flatts‘ Kodak moment in Phoenix that lead our picks.
Scotty McCreery, Blake Shelton and Hank Williams Jr. all have tweets to add to the list as well. Scroll through by clicking the big orange button below. At the end, let us know which artist you love to follow on Twitter. Heck, even Carrie Underwood and Trace Adkins have jumped on board the social networking tool, tweeting fun tidbits from their own official accounts. Next up — Kenny Chesney?
Fans Have a Ball Helping Scotty McCreery Win Votes For ACM New Artist of the Year Award
With just hours left to vote, Scotty McCreery fans have worked overtime to secure the 18-year-old singer his first ACM Award. McCreery is one of three nominees in the New Artist of the Year category, and he’s put together a video using fan clips to help his campaign.
The video — titled ‘Get on the Ball and Vote Scotty McCreery’ — has been on YouTube since last week. In the clip, dozens of fans pass balls of various shapes and sizes out of the camera’s view. The next clip shows a new fan catching a different ball before he or she tosses it.
Each football, baseball, beach ball or other has the singer’s message pasted to it. Fans can vote once per day at www.VoteACM.com.
Hunter Hayes and Brantley Gilbert are the other nominees. Both have released their own ‘Vote For’ videos. The ‘Storm Warning’ singer employed a team of kittens to get vote, while Gilbert relied on his fans.

The fan-voted top new artist category features three acts this year — platinum-selling teen “Idol” Scotty McCreery, former child prodigy Hunter Hayes and the rockin’ hitmaker Brantley Gilbert. They share youth in common, but little else. Each occupies a different niche in the scene, making music that satisfies different parts of the country audience.
“It’s really cool because there is a nice little diversity,” Hayes said. “There’s a totally different thing between what Scotty and I do and a totally different thing between what Brantley and I do, which is fun. We do cover totally different ends of the genre but that shows you how far it spreads, and I love that. I love to see that.”
McCreery had a foundation built with quick-mix concrete when he won “American Idol” last year, and those fans stayed with him when he released “Clear As Day,” which went platinum in three months. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and Top Country Ahttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giflbums charts, making him the youngest man to open at the top of the all-genre chart with a debut. It stayed at No. 1 on the country chart for six weeks.
He hopes that’s just the start, though. As he makes the transition from high school senior to budding country star, he’s trying to sort out how to shape his future.“The cool thing for me about that is there’s no formula,” McCreery said. “The record label can tell me this and of course I’m listening to them, they have the experience. But there’s no calculus formula to say, ‘Scotty, if you do this, this and this, you’ll be around in 20 years headlining your own show.’ It’s fun to be working through that.”
