Scotty McCreery Celebrates Read Across America with NCAE

The young singer, just 18 and already an international celebrity, places a high value on education and reading. A North Carolina native, Scotty McCreery visited NCAE to greet the Cat in the Hat, pose for photos and yes, sing a bit, in celebration of Read Across America 2012. "It was fun -- and for a great cause," McCreery said about his visit to NCAE. "When the 7-foot Cat in the Hat entered the room, I was like "whoa!" It was so awesome to be standing next to a character from the Dr. Seuss books and see it come to life. Everyone reads his books growing up -- I certainly did." McCreery took time to sign autographs, including copies of Dr. Seuss books, which will be donated to the North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children, NCAE's non-profit, charitable organization that helps provide basic necessities and educational opportunities for children. Listen to his special Read Across America message in this radio PSA. "Even with my singing career taking off, I plan to finish high school and go to college," McCreery said. "I hope kids across the country are encouraged to keep reading and learning with this special observance on March 2. Now in its14th year, an estimated 45 million children participate in reading events around the nation. The National Education Association started Read Across America in 1998, and now more than 50 partner organizations give their support to the event. NCAE sponsors Read Across American in North Carolina.

Brad, Scotty & TBP all on the bill for the May 18th concert

Single tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 2 for the May 18 Brad Paisley concert taking place at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.

The Band Perry and Scotty McCreery are also on the bill.

The show is part of Paisley’s Virtual Reality World Tour.

Paisley tickets were previously only available through the Country Megaticket package.

Four lawn tickets are available for $99 for Paisley’s concert.

There’s no service charge at the box office the first week of sales, and ticket prices include parking.
