Scotty tweets About Whitney Houston Passing

Scotty was just one of the many Country stars tweeting about the death of Whitney Houston

Scotty McCreery (@ScottyMcCreery): R.I.P. Whitney Houston

RIP Whitney Houston

Our prayers and thoughts are with the family of Whitney Houston during this difficult time
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal

Whitney Houston, Superstar of Records, Films, Dies

Among the ones that she has left behind is her daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Whitney seemed to be born into greatness. She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin. At her peak, Houston the golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world's best-selling artists. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful, and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen. Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like "The Bodyguard" and "Waiting to Exhale." She had the perfect voice, and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise. She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.

Brad Paisley brings it tonight to Tacoma

In late January, he drew a near full-house into Kansas City’s Sprint Center, and he brought with him plenty of added attractions – the same attractions he’ll likely bring Saturday to the Tacoma Dome: two heavyweight opening acts; yes.gif w00twave.gif a wildly entertaining light/laser/video show; a virtual appearance by one of country music’s biggest stars; and all those No. 1 hits and well-known songs.

Taste of Country: This Week's Best Tweets

From Taste of Country:

By Billy Dukes

With ‘American Idol‘ ditching the auditions for the first Hollywood rounds this week, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina were more than willing to sympathize. It was just one year ago that America barely knew who the teenagers were, and they are more than excited about watching the next cast of contestants find themselves in front of millions of viewers.
