Scotty McCreery Biography - on GACTV.com

Christmas with Scotty McCreery is the album that the history-making country phenomenon was born to make.  "My stage debut was as Baby Jesus when I was first born, in the church musical," reports the million-selling sensation. "Then, in the fifth grade, I was Joseph and sang ‘O Holy Night.’ That was my first solo. I did the Children’s Choir, went to Youth Choir and participated in all that for the church. We sang ‘Mary Did You Know’ for Christmas Eve services."

He had no idea then that those first performances were paving the way for a meteoric rise in country music. He recently made his first entry into the Guinness World Records Book for being the youngest male to enter the U.S. album charts at No. 1. In 2011, his debut album, Clear As Day, premiered atop the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart and was certified platinum for sales of 1 million copies in just three months.  The album garnered the highest sales of any country solo album released last year and held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for six weeks.
His first two singles were certified gold and he was named New Artist of the Year at
the Academy of Country Music Awards and the American Country Awards.

In September, he was ranked No. 4 on Billboard’s list of "21 Under 21: Music’s Hottest Minors 2012," which was his second consecutive year to be ranked No. 4 on that prestigious list. Recently, he was among only five musical artists to be included in Variety’s Youth Impact Report 2012 that detailed those under age 21 who are driving forces in the entertainment industry.

Making a Christmas album had been a dream of Scotty’s since he started thinking seriously about a career in music, so he knew right away what he wanted his second album to be. It’s no surprise that much of the repertoire for Scotty’s first holiday collection is drawn from the music of his youth. "Winter Wonderland" and "Let It Snow," for instance, are both drawn from vivid memories.

"The earliest Christmas I can remember – I was maybe three or four -- it was snowing outside. Just a little bit, just a little dusting. I came downstairs dressed like I wanted to go outside. Forget about the presents, I want to go see the snow. We don’t see much in North Carolina.

"Our one real white Christmas, it snowed a couple of days before Christmas, and we got a lot of it. So we were still having to shovel snow. I was about 15 or 16, old enough to do all that shoveling, but young enough to still get out there, sled around, make a snowman or have a snowball fight."

At age 10, he received his first guitar, a Christmas present from his grandfather. "It is probably my favorite Christmas present. I started strumming right away. I might not have sounded good, but I was strumming. That guitar carried me a long way, for sure." Actually, he became so obsessed with the instrument that he slept with it that winter.  "Choosing songs for this record wasn’t that difficult. Songs like ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘First Noel’ and ‘Mary Did You Know,’ I’ve sung those songs for years, so those songs have a history with me."

He also has a history of loving the music of Elvis Presley. As a boy, he was inspired by a book his grandmother gave him that offered suggestions on how to be like Elvis. He listened to Elvis cassettes and even dressed up like Elvis for Halloween.

"My favorite Christmas album, it might be obvious, was the Elvis Christmas album. There’s nothing like it. He puts a spin on things, and it works, because he’s the King. So it was cool that we have an Elvis Christmas song on the record, ‘Santa Claus Is Back in Town.’ I tried to channel the King. I might have had a little lip curl when I was recording it. I’m proud of that one."  He knew he wanted to include some holiday standards, such as "Jingle Bells," "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "First Noel," as well.

"I also heard a couple of new songs. ‘Christmas in Heaven’ and ‘Christmas Is Coming Around Again’ really touched me. As soon as I heard them, I knew they were going to be on the album. I knew I was supposed to record them, and people were supposed to hear them. In the end, it was very clear which ones were supposed to be on the record.

"Recording this album was definitely a lot more comfortable and a lot more relaxed than Clear As Day was. Clear as Day was definitely a little more hectic. We started as soon as Idol got done, right out of the gate recording in Portland, Oregon, Nashville and Los Angeles. We were everywhere.

"But for this one, we were all in Nashville, and everybody was relaxed. We had Christmas lights in there and Christmas cupcakes, even though it was in the middle of July and August. It was a cool experience this time around, for sure."

You’d never know it from his unfailingly polite, unflappable demeanor, but the rise of young Scotty has been blindingly rapid. Following a youth spent singing in church in the Raleigh satellite community of Garner, N.C., he led a praise-and-worship group called Audience of One. More significantly, he sang with an advanced high-school chorale group called Die Meistersingers. It required him to sight-read music, perform classical pieces and compete with similar groups on a national level.

"Both of these groups helped me to really learn to be a professional about music," says Scotty. "I think the classical training that I got has helped me in the country world, as far as my voice technique, all around."  His other passion was baseball, and Scotty pitched for his high-school team while he pursued music. He also worked briefly in an auto-mechanic shop and for a longer stint as a grocery cashier throughout his junior year in high school. Then came the American Idol audition in Milwaukee 2010, where he impressed the judges by singing "Your Man."

In May 2011, he won the show at age 17, becoming the show’s first country male winner and its youngest male winner in any genre. "I Love You This Big" was instantly issued as his debut single. On June 10, he staged his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. From July 6 to the end of September, McCreerey toured in the "American Idols Live!" show. In between tour stops he worked on his album Clear as Day with producer Mark Bright.

The album came out in October as he turned 18, and "I Love You This Big" became a gold record. By the end of the year, Clear as Day was certified gold, as was its second single, "The Trouble with Girls." In December, Scotty was named Billboard magazine’s No.1 new country artist of the year and won New Artist of the Year at the fan-voted American Country Awards.

Just three months after its release, Clear as Day was certified platinum in January 2012, and Scotty began touring with country stars Brad Paisley and The Band Perry. He took school work for his senior year in high school with him, helped by his mother, a former teacher. That spring, he introduced his third single. "Water Tower Town," won the Academy of Country Music’s New Artist of the Year trophy and earned a Breakthrough Video honor at the CMT Awards.

Immediately after his performance on the CMT telecast, he flew home to North Carolina to graduate the next morning with distinguished honors from Garner Magnet High School. During the summer, he worked on Christmas with Scotty McCreery, enrolled in the North Carolina State and moved into his first apartment, within walking distance of the school’s Raleigh campus.

"There have been so many wonderful things and great things that have happened to me since I got off Idol," says Scotty. "It happened so quick, I didn’t get the chance to forget who I was. I’m still deeply connected to my community. I had a great church, a great upbringing, a great family. They wanted what was best for me, but helped me remember where I come from.   "Getting to tour with Brad Paisley, a guy I’ve looked up to for so long, was an honor. But it all really goes back to the fans. Seeing them sing the songs back to me that weren’t even singles, it was really cool to see that. They’ve had my back since Day One."

Again produced by Mark Bright, Christmas with Scotty McCreery showcases more of the subtleties and nuances of the young star’s singing voice. Whether enjoying the traditional warmth of "The Christmas Song" or conveying the deeply devotional "O Holy Night," the album promises to remain a household favorite for years to come.  "Christmas time is definitely a time of year when we can all get together and rally ‘round," he says. "It gives us all hope. It means so much. It really is a special time of year for me. I try and live, year-round, by my faith, and this is one of those years we can really celebrate that."

  1. If I were not an avid fan of Scotty already, I would certainly go to the internet so see who this kid is. Remarkable young man and what a great article. Scotty is so real and so humble besides, of course, being gorgeous and having a voice that takes you to a wonderful place when listening to every song. This is a wonderful picture of the kind of person he is. Please stay on topic and keep positive in comments, please.

    2. 5:52: Remember how fans have said that it would help us be more positive if we steered clear of giving each other advice? Sure you mean well and sure some appreciate, but some more independent personalities prefer to exercise their right to choose within site admns. perimeters. It's well documented that it's best to let adults make decisions for themselves to extent possible. If we choose unwisely, then we have no one to blame but ourselves and if we choose wisely we can give ourselves credit, instead of you, and thus feel better about ourselves. And realistically, we learn best from that method. Kinda like raising children in that functional parents eventually allow some room for independent decision making. Hope you can respect my perspective. I do respect your wish for others to be positive, I just am not motivated to follow advice from stranger since I've been making own decisions for many yrs. It comes across much differently when one says, "I so hope everyone is positive today since this is such good article", as it permits one to express their point, while permitting others to choose their's as well.

    4. You're always annoyed, that's not news and of course you would think ever disagreement is right fighting. It's the only kind you know. I guess I could have told the woman she was annoying and to give it a rest. That's always classy.

    1. Yes, My 11 year old I talk about Scotty a lot. We are big fans. When my son met him at his M&G, he was so excited and Scotty was wonderful with him. My son was glowing because they spoke about baseball! Some of the kids say mean things at school so my son follows Scotty's shdc philosophy! Boy does it help having Scotty in our corner! We adore him!

  6. "I think the classical training that I got has helped me in the country world, as far as my voice technique, all around."

I think he's right. One of the things I love about Scotty's singing is his control and I know this may sound a little goofy but his breathing technique. What I mean by that is, that you don't hear him sucking for air when he sings, he has such control that you rarely hear him breathe at all...so when he sings, it's very smooth, like Frank Sinatra...and this coming from a soon to be 19 year old. His voice is just beautiful.

Sorry for posting 2 times in a row but I've been wanting to say that and this article gave me the perfect opportunity. Haha

  9. Scotty has so much more to his singing than people know...the classical trianing..he can sing anything and I agree about the control he has with voice. He is incredible.I sure wish we could hear his classical singing. It would be nice if Mrs. Clayton had some video she could post. Many people didn't even know he sang Sinatra at his first audition, thinking all he could sing was country. I love everything he sings. And yes he is a great role model. Glad to hear his shdc policy can help other kids to deal with mean comments. He never ceases to amaze me as to how mature he is, right from the start and how he can handle himself. He definitely had good guidance in his life helping him to have a respect for himself, not having low self esteem that so many deal with. It says so much for the atmosphere in his home. With the comparisons to Elvis, a stable home life Elvis didn't have, which was said. But he did love his Momma.Scotty has everything going for him. I only wish him the greatest success in his music and in his personal life. Again kudos to his family!

  10. Just saw were thenew female judges were feuding, vulgar, and someone commented this is what music has come down to, these types of singers and asked whst happened to the stars of yesteryear, the Patsy Clines etc. Well here is about the most classy act in music today in Scotty. People need to take notice. Wish KU has never joined the cast...I like him but won't watch because of the girls. They will ruin AI or be popular drawing the crowd that likes this kind of stuff. All I can think of there is not one reason anyone could have for not taking their kids to see Scotty. You know what you can expect. AI isn't a family show anymore. With the guests and Jennifer and Stevens performances on Season 10, they no longer cared about young viewers.Scotty is a class act, people and he is here to stay.

  11. I totally agree with 6:36 pm.... I have also noticed that you cannot hear when he takes a breath and it makes his singing sound so smooth - like velvet! The training shows and I hope he never changes his technique. I love to listen to him sing!!

    1. I have also noted the same quality and I am terrible about technical issues of music. But, despite the bashings I get for saying I don't care for some of Scotty's song pics, I have always known that his performances were technically spot on....how I knew that I'm not sure...maybe the smooth transitions and never struggling for breath. I too had thought that his classical training was huge benefit to him, both in his ability and AI competition. I was surprised in other article to hear him say he was learning/studying the techniques of song writing (something like that)...like it was science as much as art...I found that interesting as I thought song writing ability was something one either had or didn't more or less. I read somewhere a comment that asked, what difference does it make whether an artist writes his own music or not?...I think an artist doesn't necessarily need to in order to be successful, but if I follow a particular artist, I enjoy knowing that they wrote a song if I like it, as I feel it draws me closer to knowing mind and heart of artist better. That said, I still rather hear a song I like, from artist I like regardless of who wrote it. Chris Christopher is great eg. He wrote great stuff, but it was best to let Steve Goodman, John Prine, etc. sing em.

I am so thrilled his album is going out of this country and have no doubt he will add many new fans soon. Thanks for the great article GAC and painting a true and fair assessment of this young man,. He is beyond good!! He is great. Thanks to his family. I love that they are making this a family business. They will certainly watch out for his interests. That is comforting to me, seeing them on tour. Mr. Mike has his eye on Scotty and what's going on. So many young people in the entertainment field have been taken advantage of and have ended up destitute. So I am so happy for his family support. Look forward to what is ahead. G-Ma Dodie

  25. I despise the term "Haters". I have heard it used on net by those who become angered when another's view is different. No one typically knows another well enough to make such a horrid judgement, even so it's a vulgar term IMO. I have advocated for rule that says stay away from addressing comments of others here. Good thing no one's pd attn. as I wld have to break it at this pt. The GAC article was indeed very nice but the comment above I had to read three times as I couldn't believe what I was reading. To take all the goodness derived from that article about Scotty and twist it to nothing but judgement, resentment and revenge directed toward "the judgmental that walk these halls" is a horrible abuse of anything sacred. Holy Cow, please Darlin, read what you wrote and reflect on the real meaning of the goodness you profess to admire, relative to the true intent of your motivations. Using Scotty's good qualities to condemn others just isn't right no matter how you look at it.

To 12:01 or G-Ma Dodie or is it GS a nice article about Scotty and you have to bring up your favorite topic the 'haters' who are fans of Scotty, that don't agree with you on the duet issue, who you are once more condemning and judging, with I sense a gloating satisfaction that us unworthy, ignorant, non McLaina fans, are going to learn a lesson on who Scotty considers a TRUE friend when the Friends Show happens! (Where together their true mission by their chemistry and innocence?? is to have a great positive impact on the rest of us imbiciles through their touchy feely singing together)! Thats truly difficult to swallow.....but as I've learned in life sometimes you have to consider where the condemnation is coming from and see it for the rose-tinted-glasses its seen through and just drop it!

In fact I don't even know why I bothered to sarcastically respond, with my 5:53pm comment! I lost my cool! The person that calls other people 'haters' (because they have a different opinion than theirs) and to which 'haters' has become her trademark for judging others, in her self-proclaimed preacher status, of who's good and whose evil...and all this, out of the blue, under a beautiful article about Scotty) is already, in my opinion, someone that few can respect! By the way my only other comment here was 6:24pm until I hit 12:01 Ugh!!!

  28. The first comment on keeping things positive generated a rather uncalled commentb from the next person. We are tryingg to keep things light, not all the drama. No need to get your back up saying she is giving you advise. And now whoever accuse G-ma Dodie of something she did not say. Come on. Those comments are what starts problems. I think G-ma Dodie said to another comment not to bring up haters. So get your facts straight before accusing.

    1. 8:21 I expect ur referring my "uncalled for comment"....and thus now u hand down some more advice...I tried to make my comment very respectful, but I give up trying to help you understand that unsolicited advice from someone others don't know or trust isn't helpful. If i had intended to be ugly, I would have just told the lady that she was annoying and to give it a rest as was crassly stated to me by 4:56 who also accused me of right fighting which I haven't begun to touch on. If I wanted to go there, all the evidence is right here. How well did starting out by telling everyone to be positive work today? How well has it worked in the past? I didn't start the rest of this mess. All the talk about haters generated with someone who has yet to be identified. And now who are u 8:21 and this "we" who is presuming to address the rest of us; judging my comment and when did "we" decide on keeping things light and not all the drama. What happened to the site admns. here? I thought they were still assuming responsibility rather than the self appointed "we". I've always been pretty calm and collected here, but I'm sensing more drama under the self appointed "we regime", than usual so this "we" deal strikes me as doing more harm than good. I prefer to leave situation to site admns.

  29. Hey 5:53 I thought at first it was G-Ma D too, but saw some praise for her comments, so I thought it was random young person...As I reread the comment, it finally dawned on me that this was about LA, AGAIN so apparently the implication is that Scotty is going to show his undieing "friendship" for LA by inviting her to this CMAS shindig. So they're saying he's going to prove his true friendships but aren't saying what they really mean which is their belief LA is invited for the dream duet. Since someone(s) r so sure she's coming, wonder why they aren't just going ahead and rubbing our noses in it, as no doubt they would take event as unrequited love, which we nonalainers have been denying em. Perhaps they're not sure; just hoping and know how stupid it wld look if she isn't invited, u think? Who did start that crazy Hater statement...looking again 12:48 responds to it with great favor and specifically references G-Ma Dodie, even though that one isn't signed by her. Narrowing down the "Hater" name callers with the LA agenda here and looking back at past history, I guess u cld be right. There was a time when GS was like a dog w/bone about and having fits that we didn't want to support LA here. I thought she was over it. I've not pd much attn. to G-ma D, other than one comment where she said what I said was ridiculous and later apologized by saying she was just trying to be positive. SMH and moved on past that explanation. But today, I called the girl Darlin, thinking it was some poor confused child. I'm close to 60, but if these old gals are running this kind of shady agenda, when I get their age,I'm gonna go back to the 80's, smoke a joint and say peace out everybody.....Just kidding about smoking a joint people....But this grandmas and Hater thing is wiggin me out. Jeez we need name registration here.....I'm no angel, but I'll stand by what I say....the one thing I'm not guilty of is name-calling, that is so low class and/or childish....I just don't know...blows me away, if all this love for Scotty talk is half agenda for something else, shame on whoever.

    2. G-Ma Dodie, Well, I'm glad it's not you and I never accused you but as u can tell from my comment, I engaged in trying to figure out who made the Hater comment with 5:53. It was confusing as the reply to the ugly comment praised you for it. It was very nice of 5:53 to apologize as few look at themselves and admit when they are wrong much. I apologize also for being part of what I know must have been upsetting evening as no one likes to be falsely accused. I believe your denial of statement. I was beginning to think our Grammies were just losing it there for a few minutes. Glad to have a little faith restored. And again I'm sorry for being part of what u experienced. This morning when I made strong response to the Hater comment, I didn't believe it was u, as said I thought it was some poor misguided child. Take care and hope rest of your evening is peaceful.

Oh yeah, your right it is GS's right to be LA fan, but she has quit sighing her posts so we can't read and respond accordingly. I thought she had given up on pushing LA here, but disappointing no matter who wrote the 12:01 comment. But it is nice to know where you stand. Thanks for being direct about it all.

  32. 8:45: This is 5:53 thanks for the laugh 8:45pm with smoking the joint thing, I've never smoked one in my life either, don't ever intend to, but the idea is good for a laugh, and lightens the preachy atmosphere that some dive into...it sometimes reminds me of the old movie 'Elmer Gantry' around here when the duet is mentioned! I believe 12:01's reference is to a Friends with Scotty concert in Massachusetts, in November. I haven't heard what that means, is it possibly a AIS10 reunion, and that's where she gets to 'rub our nose in it' Lol. If it is I'll be pacified if Haley, Casey and James are there to put some balance in the show. Would love to see videos of those three, and Scotty alone if that's at all possible! Anyway, it seems 12:0l thinks she/he has the inside scoop and is already gloating!

    1. 10:03 Hey girl, we got in and out of some hot water real quick tonight, didn't we? Admired your apology to G-Ma Dodie, as it shd have been. I just finished one for my part in event. I started to tell her that since she had restored some faith in the Grandma generation, I was relieved as I really didn't want to go back to 80's, smoke pot and peace out...80's were never my thing. I think u are right about S & F's in Mass. I predict that if it is AI thing most all top 13 will be there or top 5 or something and since Scotty will be doing his CMAS songs, he can therefore avoid duet w/LA less conspicuously. More likely to be a group number unless AI is footin the bill and forces a da*n duet. Please Santa, no duet!!!!It kinda makes sense that it wld be AI type reunion. Whatever station AI is on, wld pay for it, does anyone know if it's to be on AI station? Otherwise it wld be expensive endeavor, unless he's doing something with some other country artists...big name types which I wld most like to see...Oh well either way. I would also enjoy seeing Haley, James and Casey. I am more impressed by Haley ever time I see or hear her...not my style music, but girl is such a class act and America just missed it til it was too late...dang I still hate that for her, oh and for us too. As far as 12:01 gloating, I don't think we've heard much from her tonight...I would be hiding in shame, given what that comment started....gloating too soon was sorta like pride cometh before fall thing. I think I know who it was, but I've learned my lesson, not saying. I agree with comments below, if we don't get registration usernames this site is going to self destruct.

    2. Disregard all my ramblings above about CMAS with Scotty and friends, don't know why I got it in my head it was going to be on television...Obviously I'm clueless.

  35. I thought the thing in Nov., Scotty and some friends was a Christmas thing and nowhere indicates who the friends are. Hope it's some nice surprises. No where is LA even implicated. G-ma Dodie . Thanks for your comments 10:37. If you have ever noticed I never push for a duet with her. In fact on Idol tour I thought I was the only one upset about what was happening and couldn't understand why TPTB didn't yank her. In fact, I didn't think he needed any backup and he's shown that hasn't he. I was so glad so many found that flagrant display so repulsive!

  36. P.S. Just thinking of how that might have sounded and juut want to say I do not HATE LA or wish her any ill will or that she fails as an artist. I just am not a fan and was disgusted with her and try looking at her and I just can't see anything there that I want to follow. As far as duets, I am perfectly happy with this gorgeous kid and his gorgeous voice all alone. It does something nice for me. His duets with Josh and Tim were great and I would rather hear him with another male or one of them before any lady. I guess I don't want to share him witrh any girls yet. HA! No, really his voice alone is enough for me. I only hope we get some good videos soon. You know, I am 67 and have only seen one concert back in 1967 and that was the Beach Boys and it was awesome. But Scotty is one person I hope someday to see and I never thought I'd go alone to a concert but I'd do it for him. As many friends as I have and there are many, none are country or Scotty fans. How sad is that? I probably could get my daughter-in-law to take me. I wish my 19 year old grand daughter would like him. I can't get her to even listen. Boy will they regret it someday when he a maga country music star??? Just watching his solo concert in Md. again and I have to say I really think he is better in his own shows. He's great w/Brad, but solo, he just shines even more so. Can't wait for next year's concerts. Even if he doesn't tour with anyone, I'd be happy if he could do longer solo shows. And I hope on his sophomore album he sings longer than 2 or 3 minutes. G-ma Dodie

  37. Just reminded me of a singer in the 1970's, Don McLean, who recorded "American Pie", a great song that lasted over 8 and 1/2 minutes. I could handle Scotty singing that long. How about you? G-ma Dodie

  38. If you look at the times of comments you can see they are out of order. And my comment at 12:48 was not praising 12:01. Meant for other comments of Dodie. She did nothing wrong.

  39. Comment 5:12, sorry just got back from Scotty's, Brad's, and Band Perry concert in Evansville and it was amazing but Scotty's wasn't at all long enough but I wasn't close enough to get good pictures. About the Country Weekly article I bought it at our local Walmart store. I should have explained myself, sorry. It doesn't have his picture or anything on the outside so that's why I was so excited when I saw it in there with 2 pages, Yay!!!!but Brad Paisley walked around the whole concert room so my daughter got a great picture of him close up when he walked by. Scotty was just his sweet self , he thanked everyone for his year he had and said today was when clear as day came out a year ago and his christmas alblum would be out in 12 days. He is just one in a million to see and when he came out to sing celebrity with Brad the crowd went wild. I wish i was close enough to touch him but maybe when he has a solo one close by I can see him again.Well I'm wired since its 1:00 in the morning I better go to sleep. ILYTB Scotty.

  40. Just listening to his earlier performances and I always thought he had sich control and never had a hard time breathing, was just so spot on even then and going back it really showed and on his awards performances. I knew on Idol he had a better honed voive than his runner-up. She never had the control and had to catch her breath many times. He was ready then for the big time and is he taking it by storm!! And I was just thinking, I wonder how much LA wants to be in his life compared to the fans that still see them as the next Tim and Faith or Conway and Loretta. Maybe it's more them although she'd have to know it would help her, Who knows!!They need to get over it at sometime.

  41. scotty is healthy, young and a sport man so he is very energetic and macho and no problem with his breathing during performance and running here and there during performing he got energy he is a sport man and very healthy man and he use to practice vocal in his choir group so he had all the thing in him, sport, healthy, choir vocal, young and never acting ,pretending,do drama, never fighting for attention even during AI competition, just be himself, he know how to think too for choosing song for the album or song choice for performing, and it seem things are line up for him since born , birth christmas song, sing chritmas song at church, guitar grandpa, then elvis book grandma, sport dad, choir school, christmas song family, now AI,CAD,CWS. He is perfect.People just feel like very dear to him protect him fight for him it is auto he dont have to do drama to get it he is natural and truth.

  42. I got good news yesterday!!!! Got an email that my name was pulled for the meet and greet in Louisiana next week. Never expected that. Hope I have good pics and videos to post. I have good seats so hopefully since I'm short that someone taller isn't in front of me.
    YAY!!!

  43. That is good news.....if someone taller sits in front, tell em they're going to have to put u on their shoulders if they stand. It'll either discourage em or get u a birds eye view.

  44. G-Ma Dodie, this is 10:37 following up on ur comments from last nite, I was so sleepy but stayed up and wrote u long response and darn thing wouldn't post so I'll give it another shot. First u r right bout Friends of Scotty Show, no announcement yet of who friends r to be. As for my ramblings bout show being on TV, disregard, I was all confused. How LA got "implicated" as u say (nice choice of word) was that the controversial 12:01 comment said in regard to Friend show in Mass, "He will show the judgmental the meaning of true friendship" There had been a few other comments like that and 5:53 & I were surmising implication of LA fans was that Scotty wld have LA there proving all the sinful nonalainers wrong and that some God like triumph for destiny wld prevail. Who knows what Scotty has planned for us. Anyway, I agree with ur tour assessment and also kept wondering why mgt didn't pull her off stage. YouTube comments were going wild and even her fans were saying stop it! But as I've said I saw that train wreck coming since mid AI. I'm a psychotherapist and sometimes what I see coming makes me NUTS. But enough bout her, I was interested in ur comments about not getting friends and family interested enough to go see Scotty with you. Can't believe u can't get grand daughter interested. Too bad. I am single, no family much and have recently relocated and meeting very nice new people but no one interested in going to see Scotty with me either. Wish you lived nearby and we cld go together and have great time doing it. I live in southeast GA. Where do u live?
Also couldn't believe you mentioned Don McLean and American Pie...I had forgotten about that song, but I loved loved loved it....it was very long...how do u remember these things? Do u remember Come Back When You Grow Up Girl or Crimson and Clover...other oldies but goodies.
Anyway, after whole ordeal last night, it's nice when we can resolve spats and misunderstandings and come out of it with new friendships and better understandings....Donna must breath sigh of relief when she runs across one of these rare happenings here. I really hope we get user name registration soon as I think it will reduce in-fighting and increase feeling of knowing each other better. Until then, when I want to be recognized or say HI, I will post as Julie's Mom......I'm not going fully public til majority does or perhaps everyone is required. Take Care and kudo's for lady like manner in which u handled last evenings events.

  45. Julie's Mom,Thanks for your nice comments. Don't want to rehash LA and tour, but I'm no psychotherapist and I could see that coming early on too. I thought I was alone till seeing all the posts here. Scotty is such a gentleman and really sets the example for us all. He was fully aware of what was happening but still outshined everyone and never bad mouthed her. I am so impressed with this kid, the way he handles everything. Lady (using Lady doesn't seem to fit) Gaga embarassed him and he didn't slam her, just said that's what makes her who she is. The ballplayer who said he should stick to playing ball because he can't sing and he says thanks for listening. Or the so called pastor who said yuk after hearing him sing The Dance at the Opry(which I was hoping for a standing ovation) and he says thanks for the love, Pastor Adam. He is the coolest and so much more mature than people realize. The shdc thing...he really shows it. Yes, I do remember the songs mentioned. I hear so many old songs that I think Scotty should do. I live in Wi. It's funny here, nearby in Oshkosh, there's a huge country music festival every year and people pack it out so I know people love country here but never hear anyone who mentions Scotty. I hope he plays here sometime. They actually advertised him last year along with BP, TBP, KU and many other huge artists but that wasn't true. They play LA but haven't heard Scotty, although I don't listen much. I listen to Music Choice where they play him alot. This Christmas album should wake them up, I hope. I am so glad to have Fans of Scotty because no one here to share him with so far. My granddaughter isn't into too much music, she is an avid reader which I am so proud of her for. Good girl and someday I hope she's finds someone near to the kind of person Scotty is. Anxious for GAC results tonight! Have a good one, everyone. G-ma Dodie

  46. Yeah, I agree that it shouldn't take therapist to see what was goin on but everyone kept talkin bout America's sweetheart and the country darling and I was like what are other people seeing here. I finally decided I just must be more accustomed to paying atten. to body language and little things said and left unsaid, etc. I think mainstream America can be quite gullible and if some one starts throwing out talk of God and prayer then some accept without attention to behavior. I believe the best in others until I start seeing that talk doesn't match walk. With Scotty there was never any doubt, but LA didn't even start the talk til near end when she saw it working for Scotty and she had already shown some attitude toward Haley and other contestants by then. I didn't know about the Pastor who said Yuk about The Dance. When/Where did he say it? I thought Scotty wld get standing O for that perf. as well. I agree he is way more mature than many older adults. Defiantly an old soul. He had me when he got so upset with himself about JT. And then took stand to correct what he saw as wrong. That's what I mean about people not acknowledging when they're wrong much and when I saw him crying back stage about it, I thought whoa, this kid is something else. That's also why I respected 5:33 for jumping real quick to apologize to u last night....she actually did it in two places to be sure u saw. I feel, it's not about if we make mistakes in life, it's about how we handle em when we do. Oshkosh, my goodness, that sounds like planets away for this southern gal. I can't believe they're playin LA and not Scotty and wonder why that is. If it's about that cummulus programming list or whatever people are always talkin about, there is no logical reason why LA would be on it and not Scotty, unless mgt pulled strings for her and not him and that really doesn't make sense either. Some say it's because radio doesn't like reality show artist, but then again why LA and not Scotty. I don't understand and would really like to know what the real deal is within the industry. The Christmas Album is over the top, I knew it would be good, but it far exceeded my expectations and think from comments we're all just speechless, yet struggling to find way to express anyway. Hope this is breakthrough for radio play. I'd like to think he doesn't need radio, but maybe he does, I don't know. At least your granddaughter has good alternative excuse for not following music. I've always been prone to reading over music myself, so I have to really like what I listen to. But also, Scotty is about more than just music. My fav adult country artist is Dwight Yoakam who was never fully embraced by Nashville because he hit there with intent to bring old style honky tonk back when Nashville was moving toward "new sound" but Dwight did more than okay in Hollywood and he never got radio play, still doesn't. Scotty is my #1 young artist and I would love to see both my guys in concert at some point. It will be interesting to see where Scotty is 3 to 5 yrs from now. Okay, enough rambling, see you around the halls here, Nite Nite.

  47. The Pastor comment was a tweet to Scotty. Like I sat Scotty employs his shdc policy all the time. I admire him so much.

  48. How rude!....I would be ashamed and wouldn't put it out there I was a Pastor...I'd want to see that guy's credentials.
