Album Review

Scotty McCreery celebrates the holidays with his 2012 seasonal set, Christmas with Scotty McCreery. Working again with producer Mark Bright, who helmed the American Idol winner's 2011 debut, McCreery sings many familiar standards on this 11-track album — "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!," "Jingle Bells," "Winter Wonderland," "The Christmas Song," "Santa Claus Is Back in Town" — and also finds space for the gospel "Mary Did You Know" and two new songs in "Christmas Comin' Round Again" and "Christmas in Heaven.", Rovi

The winner of American Idol’s tenth season, country crooner Scotty McCreery began singing as a child in Garner, North Carolina. School performances eventually gave way to local competitions, and McCreery won a singing contest in the nearby town of Clayton before trying out for American Idol as a 16-year-old. Auditioning with Josh Turner’s “Your Man,” he made good use of his country twang and deep baritone vocals, prompting the judges to compare him to Randy Travis. McCreery passed the audition, became

  8. There is an article about Scotty an d Adam Lambert about there albums being released on the same day.Scotty could use some nice comments from his fans on there.I just put one on there It's seems there always comparing Scotty with some other idol,it's nonsense they never seem to quit,it makes me mad, with some of there comments. If you can go give him some praise on that site.I'm so sick of them with there garbage

    1. It's really pointless of them to even compare him with any other idol contestant, because Scotty is "classic" straight-up country and he is seriously working hard at his music career and completing his college education - and secondly, what's the point of continuing to compare, because he's considered a legit country star/artist who has already won 3 major fan-voted country awards - But then again, people will think and say what they want regardless - Scotty has a huge fan base and is making new fans along the way - as long as his fans continue to support him he will remain successful in his career -

    2. just want to add that, who cares if adam lambert's album is released on the same date - Scotty's album will hit Platinum in no time! And I am sure his Christmas single (if there is one) will go Gold or higher! It's still always nice and helpful to leave nice comments about Scotty.

    4. it's a short article by hollywoodreporter.com (ai watch) - i just read the article & comments there - i don't care what anyone says: scotty is in the 2013 guinness book of world records and has a display in nc's museum of history!!!!

    5. I agree K and he's also #4 on Billboards top 21 artists who are 21 and younger. That too is another WOW! I hope the comments there are not comparing, because that would just be foolishness, Scotty has a totally different fan base, that I'm very proud to be a part of!

  11. OFFSTAGE: Scotty McCreery Falls Asleep With His Guitar

    Scotty McCreery
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Scotty McCreery is off at college now, and I'm assuming he brought his guitars with him. And I'm also assuming he doesn't have a lot of downtime to play them. But I remember last time I interviewed him, he told me a story about how he sometimes makes time for guitar at the end of the day. He just falls asleep with it. "Every now and then, I go to bed sometimes, and I'll be playing some tunes or trying to write something and I just fall asleep in the middle of it," he admitted. He has a lot of guitars to choose from, too. "I have one Taylor I got before Idol, one Gibson I got during Idol, and then I've got a 1957 Gibson J-45. It's beautiful," he told me of the guitar he named Rhett. "My producer gave that one to me for going platinum." As for the tunes he plays right before going to bed, McCreery says he's not perfect but that he's more in practice songwriting mode. "I'm by no means 100 percent developed in my craft like the guys in Nashville are. I'm looking forward to spending more and more time with the experts, learning about the art of songwriting."

    1. What a guy! Scotty's humble down-to-earth personality is so pleasing!

    2. This is 3:21pm in reading my comment by saying 'pleasing' I prefer 'admirable' and by that I mean, for someone who has had so much success...many would be a little full of themselves, but because Scotty remains humble and down-to-earth its probably why fitting in at University, as just one of the guys, is working for him! He's a country music star and his achievements in the music business, have been truly outstanding but I guess in school he's simply Scotty McCreery student! Amazing!!!

    3. I saw a tweet awhile back...a girl was on campus and she saw Scotty walking by and she tweeted, so excited. She said something like " OMG I just saw Scotty walking on campus like he's not Scotty McCreery"

  14. OT - Scotty's birthday is just around the corner.....shouldn't we start doing something special for him?.....aside from buying his Christmas CD (of course).....maybe this site could collaborate with others - IDF, Fanbuff, etc....just a thought.
