Sadie Hawkin's Dance, Starring Scotty McCreery

In light of the recent father-daughter school dance ban in the city of Cranston, Cat Country is hosting it's own 'Sadie Hawkin's' Dance, Starring Scotty McCreery!

The event will be held on Thursday, November 15 from 6pm to 9pm at the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston, RI.  The ‘Sadie Hawkins’ dance, which will be open to all girls grades 1 through 6 who attend a Cranston Public Elementary School, will include a performance by the National Country Music Star and American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery.

Chaperones for this dance is open to any adult (18+) in the student’s life – fathers, mothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.  Tickets will be sold to capacity at $10 per person (includes ticketing fees).  Attendees are encouraged to dress in semi-formal attire.  Net proceeds from this event will benefit the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of the Ocean State, based in Cranston, RI.

Tickets will go on-sale beginning Thursday, October 4th at 10am. To purchase tickets, please call City Tickets at (401) 421-4600 or online at cityticketonline.com.

Please note that is event is currently exclusive to the elementary students of Cranston, RI, who have been effected by the ban.  However, it is not our intention to exclude boys or kindergartners.  Both boys and kindergartners are invited, as long as they are a student of the Cranston Public School Department.  Cat Country is planning on hosting another event in the Spring that is geared more towards the interests of boys (ie, baseball game).  And it's the decision of the child's guardian on whether or not they would like to purchase a ticket to the dance for a kindergartner.
All press inquiries should be sent to briget@wctk.com.

  1. That's great! It's for a great cause, The Boys and Girls club and a poke in the eye for a ridiculous ban.

    1. ...because someone complained and said that it was unfair to someone who may not have a father to go with. Of course, no one said they couldn't bring a Mom or uncle or brother, so they had to ruin it for everyone and it's made a lot of people pretty mad.

  5. Well, I just have to say that I cannot believe the number of concerts/shows Scotty has had running since the start of this year & still adding -- all the traveling, etc. -- he is really working hard - music AND college! Poor baby - and still he gives so much of himself to his fans, his friends, & others -- God bless him always!

  6. Yes, he has a BIG heart!! Even in August when he was in Galveston, they announced that the money he received that day would be given to Operation Christmas Child (for the shoeboxes!!) I bet he gets a zillion requests from EVERYONE so I guess he has to just pick and choose WHICH ones touch this heart and I guess this one did??

    2. I find that a little odd that he didn't even tweet "wheels up" for this leg of the tour. Guess he is just so busy. Probably around midterm at school too. That in itself is stressful!!!

  7. This is very dear to the people of RI who are overjoyed that Scotty is coming to host this dance that has been ripped from the children of our elementary schools courtesy of the ACLU. Acc to the decision father/ daughter dances have been banned because they might hurt the feelings of someone in the Ocean state. Scotty is alwYs right there to defend what is right and true to the heart of America. We honor him and family for stepping up and representing the families. New England loves this family they are the roots of it's beginning and serve God and others before themselves. Bless you for sharing your son and bringing joy to our RI kids this Nov!!!

    1. I'm glad they found a way to hold this traditional dance event for the kids despite.the ruling -- I'm really very disappointed & disgusted with many of the so-called judges in this country today -- and that ACLU has become so abusive and destructive of American values & traditions -- im surprised they get away with what they do -- People should fight back -- just like what they did re prayer in schools, just bec one man is an atheist prayer is banned!? I really hold the judges accountable for making these rulings -- they are so inept, unqualified in my opinion --
