  1. Scotty got ripped off!

  2. He wasn't shown performing, but at least they showed him! He is in there with the big boys now. Just a real quick commercial anyway. On the actual show they show two songs for each artist, I think.

  3. They don't want to show the best they want you to watch. That was a tease.

    1. Please don't boycott just because Scotty was not nominated tune in to support him and let the CMA know that is why you did

    2. How do we contact them?

      Delete
    3. 7:30: Why is that important to you. As Americans we have a right to make a statement about what we will and won't accept based on TV viewing. I seriously doubt letting CMA know we viewed their show because of Scotty would help him in anyway. The nominations for this yr are over and next years will be determined the same as yrs past: pandering to the record labels unless CMA gets message in $ signs. I doubt a few not watching is gonna make much difference but at least it's stand for what I believe in. Why would u ask people to support what they don't believe in? That's just wrong. I still support Scotty, but watching him on YouTube or here is not taking anything from his support. And as far as contacting CMA and reaching anyone that gave 2 cents is highly improbable. It wld be like trying to impact radio only more likely a 100 X's more difficult.

    4. 11:30 PM, from 7:30 here we go again! You do your thing and we will do ours, ok?

    5. 6:42: Lady I wasn't the one begging anyone to do differently than what they intended. You were! So I have never intended to do anything but my thing and permit others to do theirs. In fact I was asking why you would ask others to go against what they believe to do as u were asking. So ur pushing me aside with "here we go again...etc. and acting as if I'm not part of this fan club, is excluding a long standing, hard voting and highly supportive fan of Scottys and Scotty only. Just because I don't think exactly like the group of similar minds that have gathered here for this discussion on this one issue is no reason to down me. Many FOS have said from time to time they refuse to listen to radio stations that don't support Scotty which is similar to how I feel about CMA show. I have never been in that group, but it never dawned on me to sweep them aside as if they weren't Scotty fans. There are several sub-groups and multiple perspectives of different ages, spiritual, religious and non- religious views here, as we are typically a diverse group. This particular gathering does seem to be of similar minds, but there are those within fans of Scotty that think differently than the sampling gathered at this post. I thought we were trying to be accepting of others here with differing views (and I'm not talking about that crazy grp of fanatics that came in attacking everyone here this wk-end) But to hear u there is my view and then there is the "ours" u refer to. So excuse me, I thought "we" were all McCreerians which allowed for differing views if they were respectful. I at least have not asked that anyone think differently than I do; nor attempted to make anyone feel as if they were part of the "out" crowd here.

  6. Thrilled to hear that Scotty will perform at the CMAs. I thought they might decide to snub him on the performance end also. I will watch if he is definitely going to be on. Thanks for the update on the VT State Fair. I read that it rained and wondered if our boy got wet for nothing. I am glad he had loyal fans there that weathered the storm with him.

  7. No CMA would not snub his performance. They know Scotty always draws in viewers. As for sales I´m hoping for a big boost

  8. 10:20 I'm not so thrilled. We all knew they would "let" him perform to draw viewers and boost ratings. They are using him, but will not honor him. Of course he has to do this and play industry politics....but I will not watch. I boycott anything where Scotty is deliberately snubbed b/c of his label. It's all over the internet that he was a front-runner for NA award. I read article where it talked about the power house labels and the more the power the label held, the more of their artists were nominated. The article broke it down by label and nominees and it clearly indicated favor to some labels where artists didn't merit the nomination relative to more logical artists with disfavored labels. Many huge artists were snubbed, not just Scotty. But I'm not supporting this BS. Glad for few of the nominees and wish them well...but I'll not participate in bolstering the credibility of CMA's with viewer ratings. I'll catch Scotty's performance on YouTube where I can at least honor him with a thumbs up and great comment. Besides they may call it Country Music Awards but they are awarding several who are not committed to country music. I don't understand why CMA wants to honor those that don't represent the heart of country music. Don't have thing in the world against Kelly Clarkson but she's with Reba's label and they were the label with most nominees. I welcome Kelly to country music if that's what she wants to do, but to come along and sing a handful of country songs when she has maintained focus with her primary genre, isn't fair to number of great female artists committed to Country music. I am just disgusted with CMA's lack of loyalty to honor country music artists by merit rather than label. It's this same political game we experience w/radio.

    2. 12:27, Jeez I can't remember, I've read a lot since 9/5. I might have rec'd it in my Scotty alerts. I'll check and if I recall or can find it, I'll post link here as it was good article which explained not only why no CMA nomination but kinda also helped me understand why we don't get the radio play. It also helped me not feel so bad about it, as it just basically said with CMAs forget merit, it's all about the power of ur label... WHY DOES COUNTRY DO THIS TO CONUNTRY? Money, I guess, but there's plenty to be made off Scotty, so I still don't understand. Lady below informs the CMA fest, not the awards ceremony is where Scotty is to perform...I'm confused but will reconsider as long as it doesn't support CMA , otherwise I can wait for video. That's just a personal choice for me as we have so little voice within the music industry, I feel I've got to use the tiny one I got. 12:31, I respectfully disagree with ur comment bout better that Scotty was not nominated. I could clearly understand if he didn't win, particularly if many of the reasons disc at prior post represent criteria for win such as not having single hit in top 10 and all that. I don't expect that Scotty shd win all the time and having won two prior NA awards this year, I could have been happy with nomination...but the travesty to me was him not receiving the respect of a nomination. To make obvious omission of nomination with anticipated front-runner is just too much for me...but different strokes.

  9. It was gone like a flash but what a cute picture of our rising star, Scotty! I've said this before I think its better Scotty is not nominated, then to be nominated and TPTB select someone else, that they've already chosen through whatever system they use. Scotty got the big awards, the fan voted ones! Yes!! I'm thrilled to see him as a headliner in the ad for the Festival and I will most definitely be watching the show to see Scotty perform!

    ReplyDelete
  10. This CMA performance is not for the CMA Awards, it is for CMA Fest, Country's Night to Rock on ABC. I am watching because just one year ago Scotty just shared the stage with Josh Turner for only one song, but just one year later he was invited to the big stage with all the big guns, setting him apart IMO from some other newer artists. I know on TV they will probably show Scotty singing maybe two songs (he did a full set like everyone else this year) but I want to see him, even if he is on after my bedtime I am gonna stay up until I see our Scotty!!

I also am very disgusted with the politics of the CMA nominations (bunch of hooey, I agree) but I am taking the SHDC approach, because he'll show 'em soon enough that they missed the mark. Since some of the artists who were nominated this year have been in the business for a while, Scotty should be eligible next year, too. I am one of his fans who will watch all the reruns of shows Scotty has been on just to see him again AND watch the YouTubes as well. I got it bad, I know. Haha!!

  11. Thanks 12:35pm for advising that the Festival is not the awards night. As I recall its sometime in November! What I love above this ad, is not only that Scotty's cute picture is there, but the ad says the best in country music will be there! Scotty has accomplished so much in a short time and already he's included as one of the best in country music! So right on!!!!

    3. That was my question to myself which i wanted to bring up. They will probably ask him to perform to boost their ratings. That's how scheming they are in CMA.

      Delete
    4. Golly, I don't look at it as scheming, I see it as another feather in Scotty's cap to be included in the headliner as one of country music's best (they recognize he's a great singer with a lot of fans, who love his music)! Like Scotty, might say, its all good. And, I know for sure Scotty's time will come, likely next year. The other nominees have been around quite a long time and that probably influences their choice and I understand their reasoning. However Scotty is still put front and centre in this ad! Yay!

    5. I agree with mom4scm. The music industry has dark side, no matter the rose colored glasses. When it is accepted standard practice (from all I have read) that the CMA's cater to favored labels in regard to nominees and neglect to nominate merited artist from disfavored labels that's pretty underhanded IMO. Why would they do that except to pad their own pockets? Then they would obviously select the performers which draw the biggest ratings even when they neglect them as nominees...I don't know if I'd call it scheming, as it sounds like second nature for CMA, but it's pretty self serving and low. Certainly doesn't show much integrity for the music industry. Being asked to perform is putting no feather in Scotty's cap under these circumstances, he already has the feather they want....just my perspective but I'm a realist.

  12. It is a shame when money is put ahead of talent and a forerunner is shoved aside by greed. But, what goes around, comes around. Scotty is good, good, good inside and out. His talent is way above the others. With the hand of God guiding he will not always be snubbed and pushed aside. His star will rise above and shine brightly. I just hope I am around when that time comes. I love this shining example of God's love.

  13. Most of the singers I listen to never get nominated nor win the "big" industry awards - but there albums always sell & top the charts! For me, awards are supposed to mean recognition of achievement & not just talent or the number of years in an industry - e.g., Thompson Square, Eric Church, etc., - they don'r even sing that good & probably only one song of theirs that became hits only because radio gave the songs the airplay - but hey, it's show biz & all about the moolah -

    ReplyDelete
  14. Mentioning Thompson Squre....(4:21PM), I would agree with all
the mominees for New Artist but TS ... Really do wonder why
they're included instead of Scotty. Oh, well, surely he will
be invited to perform on the November 1 show.(Hopefully not
just for a minute and a half!).... Don't understand the selection
process for New Artist... nor do I understand why WTT just up and
    disappeared off the charts.

YOU ALL SHOULD REMEMBER A LONG TIME AGO BEFORE ANY MENTION OF CMA AWARDS THAT IT WAS NOTED THAT SCOTTY WOULD BE PERFORMING AT THIS YEARS CMA FEST. ALL OF YOU SHOULD REMEMBER HE ALSO PERFORMED BY HIMSELF AT THE LP FIELD AFTER THE ONE THAT HE SHARED WITH JOSH TURNER SINGING YOUR MAN.

    3. Lee Brice is up for NA and he has been putting out songs since 2007! Well these awards are not fan based so I know the others mean more to Scotty. He will continue to shine!

  16. Videos from Vermont are on you tube. In regard to CMA's, I would never boycott anything where Scotty is singing. To think that the CMA's using Scotty to boost their ratings is ridiculous...CMA's have been around a long time, people. I look at it as any exposure he gets is good. Next year will be his year. The others have been singing longer so they are being oushed. Don't agree with it, but I'm jsut waiting for his big break. He has accomplished a lot already and we need to enjoy that. I don't understand their criteria, but like everything else, there's a lot of politicing and there's not a blooming thing we can do about it. That's the music industry for you. Just keep voting on GAC, keep him on the chart till they will retire it. Plus his Christmas album is going to blow everybody away. G-ma Dodie

    4. Well I don't think it's ridiculous to think that CMA's wld use Scotty to boost ratings and I think one can disagree with a bit more respect than saying another's opinion is ridiculous. I may be wrong but I haven't seen any reasonable logic to change my opinion as of yet. I just can't see this as a big plus but I don't have to put other's down due to difference of opinion. Matter of fact I was careful not to do so when I did state my opinion...Just cause my opinion is different doesn't mean it's invalid. It's great to be positive about the things such as Christmas album sales and GWR as they are positives, but I can't be blind to what isn't. Of course one has to let it go and move on, but I believe if I can make a point for Scotty by not viewing, I shd do so. I have difficulty understanding why anyone else would take issue with my personal choice and why that choice can't be respected without the insenuations and arrogance which I don't appreciate. As for boycotting watching CMA I believe as the saying goes "to see an injustice and do nothing is greater harm than the original injustice. As said, I have only a small voice in regard to CMA NA nominees but I am entitled to use as I see appropriate. I don't have problem with differing opinions and those who elect to watch CMA's. I know if I disagree, I can skip reading comments and I will gladly skip G-Dodie's comments in future. Just didn't realize comment was directed at my comments, til I was too far into what I found unnecessarily rude.

      Delete
    5. 10:39PM I'm thinkin about your comment, and imagining, if all Scotty fans didn't watch the Festival and the viewing was way down, and here Scotty is mentioned as one of the biggest in country music in the ad. I can't help but think, the producers would feel Scotty doesn't have as big a fan base as they thought. So for me, to view or not to view, is like being between a rock and a hard place. I will be watching Scotty perform for sure, simply because he's performing and I want to see the ratings way up there! But I respect yours!!!

      Delete
    6. Re; 1130pm should have said 'respect your opinion' not 'I respect yours' as it was incomplete. Sorry about that!

    7. 11:30 Appreciate ur tone and attitude as well as ur point. In regard to CMA fest I feel as u btwn rock and hard place, but ultimately will make call on what benefits Scotty (not my immediate viewing pleasure) and in this case it is probably in Scotty's best interest to view, to support him. It's the CMA show, if indeed they give Scotty a slot to draw viewers and ratings that I'm taking hardline on. Just don't see viewing will help Scotty and don't want to support CMA ratings by viewing just b/c I want to see Scotty. As said I can see him later. Many have quit viewing CMA's because they don't honor artists based on merit. I think within the industry that's fairly well recognized but still some mainstream who haven't investigated or been stung by slights continue to watch out of ignorance of industry...or b/c CMA is savvy enough to pull viewers w/good entertainers. It's a win/win for them until sufficient #'s take a stand against what they're getting away with...I just don't feel I'd be hurting Scotty by not viewing and can stay true to my convictions by not co-signing their BS. One person won't impact either way; but I can't just follow crowd for that reason... just not the way I'm made. I fight for what I'm passionate about and it's typically not most popular view. But I learned it from my Grandfather and God. So I'm good w/it. I support what ever decision u make and am glad to see someone thinking to make an informed and mindful decision..think that's most impt thing.

  30. This is just my thinking. I haven't see anything from the McCreery's since the nominations came out. I am sure they were as disappointed as we were. You know, Judy McCreery has said he's a kid and people put him on a pedestal , he might mess up. This is not a mess up, by any means. Scotty is still no. 1 in our books. But because people are treating him like a demi-go, as one said, people have put him so far above everyone else that maybe he feels like he let us down. That's not the case, we know, but it may bother him. He is a perfectionist, too, and maybe feels he failed in some way. The more notority, the more people exrect of you. Maybe we need to be mindful that he's a human being and that in everyone's life there are ups and downs. I guess I am trying to say be careful of how high we put him, too high that if he doesn't win an award he may feel he let us done. I am not saying he let us down, maybe we let ourselves down expecting him to win a CMA right off the bat. His time is coming! This isn't meant to start anything about how unfair all this was. We all know that. We need, maybe to not expect he is going to win everything. He's doing great. We all love Scotty and want him to win everything, but that isn't realistic. Hope you understand what I was trying to say. G-ma Dodie

    1. The thought that Scotty might think he let his fans down, just doesn't even cross my mind. He won all the fan voted awards, that's amazing and shows how much fans love him and his singing! I don't know but the music industry, in its support of labels, the radio play that's promoted, and the seniority of the singer seems to be a big one, and seems to be what is taken into account when they select an award winner! The only thing they leave out is the best country singing voice out there, and we know that's SCOTTY!!! Next Year! I'm bettin it'll be Scotty!

      Delete
    2. I understand your point, G-Dodie - I think of anything, the disappointment is that he is not even nominated - which I believe he deserves

      Delete
    3. Yes Gma Dodie, I understand your point!..I've worried also about expecting too much of Scotty and almost worshipping him!!..He has said many times he's not Saint Scott!..So I think he is not comfortable with being so highly exalted!!..(Though he loves how his fans love him!) But he IS very wise and realistic in feeling he is still young and has a lot to learn!..And his motto is "short hair don't care".... And "it's all good"..He just doesn't air his deep feelings in public! Only to God and those closest to him!..We know he is in God's care and he will be fine!!!

  32. I know where you are coming from G-ma Dodie and appreciate your sentiments. We all realize that Scotty is young and even though he is so good, that he will not win every award. We love him just the same. We want him to win, that's human nature. He wants to win, and that's normal. We just cherish the wins and keep our hopes up. Thanks for knowing that we are human and get disappointed with no reflection on anyone but ourselves. To sum up....we understand what you are saying.....don't we McCreerians? Kait,Or

    1. Yup. Ir's a cut-throat industry nowadays - but I know there are great things in store for Scotty & his fans - already he is shining and still brightly outshining even these nominees the industry prefers to back - The "right songs" that will really showcase Scotty as the artist that he is are on his next country album coming out next year!

      Delete
    2. Totally agree with you K!

      Delete
    3. I don't really think FOS ever expect him to win everything at all. The uproar was about industry's failure to nominate an obvious front-runner and nobody even remotely put that on Scotty. I don't think he's putting that one on himself either as I imagine he was prepared for oversight given the radio-play shunning. The CMA and radio play are both influenced by recording labels and big-wigs well beyond his or our control. I imagine he was well prepared by senior artists not to expect CMA nominations based on merit. He was probably less surprised than many of us since he's bound to have learned more about CMA methods than some of us knew before this. That's not to say he may not have felt disappointed. That wld be only human but I suspect he's got all things in proper perspective.

      Delete
    4. Very much agree with your comment 1:30PM!

      Delete
    5. I also agree with 1:30 PM - I remember in one interview where Scotty said that the one thing he immediately learned is that this is a business....so I can only surmise that he and his family are fast learning about the music industry - So I think that going to NCSU for now was really the wise decision and like Scotty says, he wants to learn more about this music business stuff - He seems to be maturing fast now especially since he's been on the road almost all year and now that he's in college - I believe that pretty soon Scotty will really be one of country music's biggest stars - He really does know the kind of music he wants to make and he has very good instincts when it comes to songs - But I agree that the disappointment is that he did not get a nomination everyone felt he deserved, because of the industry power play -

Still, other doors opened and excited the fans - the GWR announcement, the ICM nomination, his Christmas album - and the great reviews of his concert performances! There's more to come!

    6. What is the GWR announcement and the ICM nomination? I guess I missed something. And, you are so right, when God closes one door he opens another. Love that boy and everything he stands for.

  33. As always Scotty did an amazing thing, this time for a fourteen year old fan in Vermont by the name of Lexi. She's undergoing major surgery on Monday and likely looking at chemotherapy after that. Scotty brought her on stage after meeting her backstage and made this young girl's night. Her story was profiled on Vermont news. WCAX. Check it out McCreerians. I'm a diehard fan from Toronto Canada.

  37. I love when they let the fans stand up to the stage like at the VT State Fair. We were on the floor too, but we stood about 20 rows back. It is great to see Scotty interacting with the ones close to the stage. All the younger girls were having a ball trying to get his attention. I don't know how he maintains his composure. At times you can see him smile and chuckle and I know he must really have to focus on what he's doing because he gets such a kick out of it and could very understandably get very distracted. It makes me smile with all the screaming fans cheering him on up at the stage. I love when he smiles at them and touches their hand. It really makes their day and the joy on their face is amazing.

The weather was as bad as could be, but finally broke just long enough to have a concert. I was amazed to see how many older fans and families with young children gladly stayed with smiles on their faces for the concert to begin well past the posted time. Scotty parted the skies a bit to give all of us joy!! What a complete doll! He seemed even more mature at this show than when I saw him at his show in mid-July. He is really growing up fast right before our eyes.

I also want to add that his opening act was Jenna Jentry. She was very good and had a nice voice. She writes her own songs and her guitarist and is from Rutland, VT. They had a good band with them. They were a little older and seemed to be well seasoned and good, but when you compare Scotty and his band you can see how good Scotty and his band are, especially for Scotty to be so young and his band to be together for less than a year. Scotty and his band really hold their own even with The Band Perry. They are not your ordinary opening act or new band. They are very accomplished among some other great artists. I also feel the same when Canaan Smith opened for Scotty at his show. Canaan is talented, sings well, and plays the guitar beautifully (acoustic set), but Scotty for being so young and only to be doing this for such a short time is phenomenal. He and his band are so good together. Scotty’s song selection, placement of the songs in the set, diversity of songs, and the tempo of his concert is really impressive. This also goes for Love and Theft who I also saw before BP's concert recently. All of them are very, very good but Scotty is right there with The Band Perry and ahead of the rest. It is amazing that he has accomplished all of this before his 19th birthday. He truly does belong in the record books!

Believe me, I am no push over when it comes to music, but I am thoroughly impressed with Scotty. He always seems to push all the right buttons and is doing it at such a young age. He makes it look easy like any great talent or athlete. Also, my husband was very impressed with how much Scotty has improved playing the guitar at this concert vs. his concert in mid-July. He couldn't believe the improvement in such a short time. Of course I said that's Scotty. He is very talented and we all know it!! You can tell Scotty has definitely been learning from Matt, Jeff, BP and his other band members. He's such a quick learner.

Again, I think all the artist’s mentioned above are very talented and I like them very much. I am not saying anything bad about them in any way. I just think it is nice for Scotty fans to see how good he is and why he does gain so many fans at different shows and why people who meet him are impressed with him. This was just my observations at 3 concerts in the past 2 months at two of Scotty’s shows (1 indoors and 1 outside) and opening for BP (outside). Again all the artists mentioned are very talented and I think highly of them. This is why I wanted to use names because you know how good they are and I felt it would be easier to see how good Scotty is by using them as a benchmark guideline. This explains why I and many others are so taken with Scotty.

  39. Nice review of Vermont. He seems to just get better. I was just listening to KU and BP, When Scotty and James did "Start a Band" on AI, I had to look it up and it was a great video of KU and BP. They looked liked they were having fun. I have seen where they are good friends. They both have great voices and personalities. They are both great "pickers" and they have some beautuful, touching songs. Great music for both. I have become a great BP fan since he invited Scotty on tour, had to look him up and seeing how he has treated Scotty has endeared me to him, but I have become a fan because of his music as well. Same with Keith, beautiful songs and great voice. They both know how to treat their fans. I really want KU to ask Scotty to tour. I think he would become another big brother to Scotty and have his back. He'd be very gracious to him. I have such respect for Keith getting help for his addictions and living a wonderful life with Nicole and two lovely daugters. They are class acts! G-ma Dodie

I am actually more of a fan of Keith U. than I am of Brad P. - I used to like BP (a little) when he was starting out but didn't take to his voice or his later music - KU is an amazing songwriter and I've always liked most of his songs - Having said that, I think music is a personal preference :) - They are all talented in their own right -

I think as these artists get older they also tire of the touring, being on the road all the time especially when they have young families -

  43. I agree Season 10 of AI spoiled me for any other season. We have our Permanent American Idol! Keith Urban had said that he accepted the judge position for AI so that he could not tour and be able to spend more time with his family and time to write songs. Scotty would be good touring with him. I have a feeling that Scotty will be touring with BP in 2013.

Well anyway, my husband got me a DVD and a sound bar hooked to our TV. He said "now you can enjoy watching and listening to your IDOL SCOTTY" and to top it all he let me buy a ticket to BPaisely concert here in Tampa this coming Sept 28. I will be alone. I want to enjoy the concert and just be glued to watching him but i will try to take some videos.

  53. I too spent the morning surfing for Scotty videos and admiring the way he is maturing into the man he will become. I could hear it in his voice in Vermont, seemed even more so than in Canfield,Ohio. How is that possible. This young man really does have that something special that draws people like a magnet. I can't describe to anyone either. My family still thinks I am in my second childhood with a crush on a teen-ager. This isn't so!!!!! But I am completely enamored with this young guy. Charisma, is that it? The goodness of his soul, mayb??? The sweetness about him? I really don't know! I do know that I have NEVER been so taken in with any artist as I have with Scotty. I really like Garth Brooks ,Josh Turner and Brad Paisley. I never followed their lives, however, as I do Scotty's. I must click on every morning to hear him sing and every evening to see what's new for the day. I am just hopelessly drawn to him. What can I say? It is definitely not in a physical way, it is more an admiring, awe inspired, fascinated way. Does that makes any sense??? I cannot help it.........that's the way it is. Anyone out there able to explain this attraction better than I can, feel free. Scotty ILYTB !

Good manners, maturity for his age, humility, the way he challenges himself to do his best at whatever, be it singing, school, baseball, Oh! yes and golf, even batting a ball and hitting the chair for Red Cross. His appreciation of family, friends and community. His faith in God and his Word, which is evident in his strength of character! Following Scotty and the life he's led only convinced me more to support him (1st of all I love his singing), then the role model he presents to young people and all ages. He's a guy with class, such a wonderful alternative to a lot of the attire and behaviour that's on the music scene and movies today. Scotty for President..just kidding! I think, he's an amazing talent, and his stage presence and how he presents a song is unmatched! I remember on Idol, often when he sang, eg 'She Believes In Me' the judges looked awe-struck at how good he is! Another eg when he sang 'Gone' he blew the judges the audience, and me too away, it was so good! And he's still doing that every time he performs in concerts!

  73. I loved seeing Scotty weekly on A10 performing different songs. I looked forward to seeing him every week. He always chose great songs and made me smile from ear to ear. So, I have become very invested in him. When I watched the show it was Scotty Time!! And to think. I wasn't going to watch, but wanted to see JLo and Steven Tyler with Randy Jackson for one show. Then that very night, Scotty was on and he hooked me and reeled me in like a big fish. I am so grateful he did that. He has added a lot of joy to my life.

He still makes me smile all the time and not only do I play CAD a lot, but I made a CD and have downloaded his A10 songs. One of my favorites is Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not? I like Thompson Square, but when Scotty sang that song it was off the charts! Also when he covers any other artists songs, I like his version better than the original. If I hear a song he's covered on the radio, I think to myself Scotty sang it better and I can hear him singing it and smile! Of course, I want him to have as much success as he wants to have, but a selfish part of me wants him to stay smaller so we can see and hear him at smaller venues instead of the big stadiums. I have had so much fun with my family seeing him this summer at his concerts in NJ and VT. I just hope he comes around here again soon and plays more concerts around the country so we can keep sharing these great youtube videos.

Thank goodness for youtube and for Donna and staff for this website. I like sharing ideas with you all and love all the positive and supportive comments made about our one and only SCOTTY.

  76. IT'S A GOD THING

There are so many of us that are drawn to Scotty for reasons we can't seem to explain to other people. My husband and son think I am "off my rocker" and I have also been labeled a "stalker." I feel, like many others on here, that Scotty IS a gift from God and HAS BEEN GIVEN a gift from God. There are many singers who have a special gift from God but Scotty is one of the few that give all the credit to God--in words and in deeds. Scotty is ALLOWING God's light to shine through him and we are drawn to that light.

For everyone who is disappointed when Scotty doesn't get enough radio time or nominated for an award please remember this. Scotty's main focus with his career and his life is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. He does this every day and so he IS accomplishing his personal goal and he is a WINNER in the category that he deems the most important. I too wish he could win all the awards and be played constantly on the radio. Many people were surprised when the Savior of this world came riding on a small donkey instead of a dazzling white horse. Scotty's humbleness and humility are some of the traits that endear him to the media.

I have no doubt that Scotty's music career is in good hands. Scotty is not trying to add God to his career plans, he is allowing God to make the plans. I firmly believe that "ONE WITH GOD IS A MAJORITY."

Go to the Garner First Baptist Church website and listen to Scotty's testimony. His church friends were handing out copies of this at his American Idol Hometown Visit Concert. Even at this early point in his career, Scotty was already trying to share with people what was most important to him.

  77. How do you know that Scotty's main focus with his career and his life is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Scotty has shared about his personal relationship with Jesus on stage, in interviews, in his songs and in his personal testimony. The main goals of ANY dedicated Christian are to honor God and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ by any means possible....words, deeds, career choices, song choices, lifestyle etc.

Think about when Scotty said a prayer before he pitched in a ballgame. He could have said the prayer in the dugout where no one could see him. Instead, Scotty chose to say his prayer at the pitcher's mound, with his hat off, his head bowed and his back towards the audience. By doing this, he is sharing the Good News with others of how much Christ means to him and how important a relationship with Jesus is.

The last thing Jesus told His followers before he ascended to heaven was to go and tell others about Him (the Great Commission).

That´s why I know very little about the way of Scotty´s / Christian thinking and that´s why I´m eager to learn and to understand. You helped me. Thank you

  78. If I may add to the comment of 8:39/10:38 - I agree with everything you said. I believe you have it right. Scotty also joins with his band members in prayer prior to every concert. He was on the stage at his home-coming concert when he offered his testimony to the 30,000 people gathered in Garner that day. He believes in "I AM SECOND". He is not ashamed for the world to know of his love for the LORD. I have always felt a light emminating (sp)from him. I do believe, scoff if you must, that GOD is guiding him and that GOD sent him to us. I am sure Scotty and his parents wouldn't see it that way, but I sure do. Scotty is what we needed in this world of today. A hope, a strong love, a wish to be better,to see the light....

  79. The lyrics of song that was used as the background music for his AI hometown visit:

Head Full Of Doubt, Road Full Of Promise (by The Avett Brothers)

There's a darkness upon me that's flooded in light
In the fine print they tell me what's wrong and what's right
And it comes in black and it comes in white
And I'm frightened by those who don't see it

When nothing is owed, deserved or expected
And your life doesn't change by the man that's elected
If you're loved by someone, you're never rejected
Decide what to be and go be it

There was a dream and one day I could see it
Like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it
And I was a kid with a head full of doubt
So I'll scream till I die and the last of those bad thoughts are finally out

There's a darkness upon you that's flooded in light
And in the fine print they tell you what's wrong and what's right
And it flies by day and it flies by night
And I'm frightened by those that don't see it

There was a dream and one day I could see it
Like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it
And I was a kid with a head full of doubt
So I'll scream till I die and the last of those bad thoughts are finally out

There was a dream and one day I could see it
Like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it
And I was a kid with a head full of doubt
So I'll scream till I die and the last of those bad thoughts are finally out

There's a darkness upon me that's flooded in light
In the fine print they tell me what's wrong and what's right
There's a darkness upon me that's flooded in light
And I'm frightened by those that don't see it

  80. I also believe what was mentioned above by 8:39 AM, 10:38 AM and 1:52 PM is right on the money. And that is why he is rooming at college with friends he can trust, they are also like-minded with him in their faith in God as well and I believe they realize the importance of being careful who they hang around with, what they tweet and what they show picture-wise as it relates to Scotty. None of his close circle of friends do any drinking or "partying" or anything that could end up reflecting negatively on them or put any of them in a situation where outsiders could exploit Scotty. It's all about trust and integrity. They know Scotty has a bullseye on his back that some would love to take a shot at. I am sure they all pray for each other a lot. I do pray for Scotty and his "boys" a lot myself.

I'll be seeing Scotty live for the very first time this Saturday in Atlanta! Soooo excited!!!!

  83. to 10:39 My comments weren't to cause dismay, it was my opinion and maybe i didn't word it right. So accept my apology. We all have differing opinions and mine was that CMA's have beem on the air a long time and have alwys had good audiences. I don't think they are using Scotty, but giving him more attention. There are many young men out there and yet they chose Scotty. I am trying to be positive about it, that's all. G-Ma Dodie
