ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this is so cute. And Scotty sounds so so good singing this song. in fact, it's way nicer than his songs in his album. Somehow, I still feel that his voice is more appropriate for the traditional country songs rather than the modern or shall i call it cross country songs in his album. That's why he sounds so good when he sings 'The Dance', 'Letters from Home' and the many songs he sang on AI. I really hope Scotty reads all his fans comments and choose the right songs and writers for his next album. I just love this young man. Thanks for this post Tarah.

DeleteBut then I absolutely disagree to your " .. way nicer than his songs on his album". Listening to BOTG, ILYTB, DD, WMNOYH, TOKJ etc - his voice is so very beautiful and just as fitting as to The Dance and Letters from Home.
I hope his next CD will have a blend of traditional and more modern country
2:16 really are you kidding.. I really do get curious about the level of fan loyalty when comments like these surface. On this site. Did you think you could get away with this comment because you say I love Scotty if you noticed in the past this just ruffles our feathers. His album was and is amazing and that your oppinion may differ but we are all on the same page on this site so we dont say things to give Scotty advice about his choice of music or career. I loved every song on his CD. Showed so much range. He needs to appeal to all ages not just old ladies. Men teens middle aged and elderly people as well. His CD has all of that and more. Just wanted to clairify that.
DeleteDirty dished, back on the ground,old king james clear as day, all traditional country songs. You do know he is only 18 so the songs on his cd are appropriate and appealing to his age group.

Delete"nicer than the songs in his album"?????????????? I don't think so! This clip was cute, funny and very nice of Scotty to let them poke fun at him...but, "nicer".....no way. His album is great.......went to number one, remember! He is a good sport with a beautiful voice no matter what he sings as I have maintained in the past. Good job, Scotty!

Scotty has really made it big when he is being spoofed. They say that is the biggest form of flattery. He is awesome and love everything he does. I do wish he would do a few songs using his lower range though. He melts my heart everytime he sings but have to saY THAT LOW RANGE really send me.
ReplyDeleteFor those folks that comment on this website who are worried about Scotty not focusing on his career--remember, he always has something that surprises us! Who knew that he was making this funny video? Who knew that he was going to sing "The Dance" at the Opry? Who knew about all the fairs and festivals he has booked for this summer? Scotty and company are in control. He is doing things differently and it is working. I am thankful that he is not like all the others---that's one of the reasons that he has so many fans. Keep up the good work Scotty! This video made me laugh! By the way, Conan also called him Scott...but we'll let that one slide!!!

It was so much better this way, he sounded amazing and it was hilarious! Love his sense of humor, his talent and everything he does! He sure knows when and how to be funny. ReplyDeleteYes to the saying "You´ve made it big when you´re being spoofed" and great PR. The "name changing story" is now all over the net and getting so much positive respons. I´m loving it.

Someone in a blog said that was because everyone at home calls him Scott and just his fans call him Scotty. Anyone know if this is true or not? I thought the family called him Scotty also. Just wondering......

Delete'Scotty McCreery' is a wonderful name for a country artist. The name Scotty has a friendly sound to it...the name Scott is more reserved IMO. I hope he never changes it!

ReplyDeleteSCOTTY/SCOTT The baseball announcers always called him Scotty. I thought it was odd that they called all the other players by their last names--but rarely referred to Scotty as "McCreery." It was kind of sweet, I thought, that they called him Scotty. When the "blue crew" talks about him they call him Scotty. I doubt if teenage boys would change up a name just for the camera. I believe that Scotty is what they have called him forever. His music teacher also calls him Scotty. The only two times I have ever heard him called "Scott" was when he auditioned and introduced himself as Scott McCreery then quickly said "Scotty" and when Conan called him Scott. I am thinking that if he changed his name just for AI that lots of friends and family would be slipping up and calling him by his old name(Scott). I seem to remember his Puerto Rican grandmother saying something about "My Scotty." Maybe somebody who goes to the Fan Club party can ask him.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to add to what I said above--if you go watch Scotty when he tried out for "Clayton Idol" he was introduced and talked about by the host as "Scotty." If you have not seen him singing "In Color" at the Clayton Idol, it is worth a look on YouTube. Even then, the audience was shocked and amazed by his voice. His nice personality and humor also were evident when he was on stage.
DeleteHe is terrific!! I still see a variety show like Donny and Marie or Dean Martin show for Scotty. He is so wonderful on TV. He can ham it up with the best of them and sing beautifully with any guest artist. I miss the old variety shows that were on when I was young. Scotty can do it all if he wants - he is just that GOOD!!!

Well, I don´t see reason for confusion. He /you / they can use both names - Christian name and nickname.

Scotty really has a way about him that makes you love him. It's like he is your son, grandson, brother etc like a blood relative!! ReplyDeleteHis Mom calls him Scotty as well,not always Scott. Many times when he is talked about in the country media, all they have to do is say Scotty, not even his last name. Don't think it'd have the same effect just saying Scott. On GAC's "Introducing Scotty", Jimmy Iovine said he became the most well known Scotty since Scotty on Star Trek. Cute. My boys Jimmy and Bobby insisted on Jim and Bob as they got older. Hope he stays with Scotty. Blair Garner referred to the McCreedy family when he was in Garner, which surprised me since he says he loves this boy so much! This video was precious and just more publicity for him. Good move, Scotty.
