Scotty McCreery, who won the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video category with "The Trouble With Girls," told CMT, "I hope people could tell it was real. We didn't really have to make up a plot. We used my own high school and used my friends. That's what made it special to me, so hopefully the fans caught onto that as well."
McCreery also confirmed he's filmed a video for his current single, "Water Tower Town." Describing the clip, he said, "It's going to be performance based ... and shots of my hometown and different water tower towns. It's a video that a lot of people to relate to, and that's what I like my music to be. That's my 'Scotty McCreery' song on the album. That reminds me of where I came from and stuff I believe in. I love singing it every night."

That is why I enjoy TTWG not only because of the lyrics but because, it was real- no paid actors pretending to be high school students but real high school students who happened to be Scotty friends. I am glad that he is not forgetting who he is and where he came from. Fame and Fortune can easily get to anyone's head. Your album CAD speaks to who you are, stay grounded Scotty McCreery. We are proud to be McCreerians and we love you very much.

ReplyDeleteScotty will move from Gardner when he is ready . I wish people would stop rushing him . his career his music his relationships. I would hate to see Scotty move fast forward and don't stop and smell the roses just because he feels constantly pushed by fans . If he goes 100 miles a minute he will burn out just like Garth Brooks did and Scotty is only 18. if he does an album every year or year and a half that would be plenty .his album is only what 7 months old and he has said he is working on his next album . fans need to cut him some slack.

DeleteI agree with 8.15He is 18 and i know i would not want to see him burn out in 4 or 5 years.He has done a lot in a year now that he is not under AL contract he will have more time to write music and listen to writers songs and come up with even a better cd than cad if that is possible .He has a very busy summer ahead of him lets just love and support him in the decisions he and his mangt make.
ReplyDeleteI agree too! It is Scotty's life and his career. He knows what he needs and wants to do with it all. But he looks a bit tired already! It also seems to me that he is tired of his private life being made public! I REALLY MISS his daily tweets about where he's at, what he's doing and where he's headed!

I agree too. As my father used to say "live the age you are" and I think that's what he is trying to do. It's great that he has his family to help him stay his age. Agree, I pray for him every day !

DeleteScotty is doing so much than he could and should in 7 mos after CAD release. With good mgmnt team and family support, he will be fine. My only dream for him is to be able to known outside of USA and Canada... the likes of Elvis, Glenn Campbell, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and all other country singers who made big internationally. I pray that he will have a KILLER song. Dont forget that this is a big dream.

I don't think we are pushing him, just that some fans will tire of the same type of hometown music. Not true blue fans but I can see what 7:34 meant. Fans can be fickle. I myself don't want him to rush in his relationship with any girl. But I know his fans want him to be known this time next year. I hope he enjoys fan week and I hope he gets some rest.

ReplyDeleteIt can be a pretty lonely road to travel being on tour ,and away from your family everyone needs to remember when Scotty won idol he was just a kid thrown onto the stage of the public eye.Constantly being judged, everyone looking at you to find a fault,or waiting for you to fail,or to make a mistake.you can do your best,but sometimes it's never enough to please people.The nasty comments sometimes i am sure they are hard to endure.He's had his share probably more than any other country artist ..Jealousy makes people do ,and say hateful things never realizing that the person is a human being with feelings.With all his success ,I often felt so sorry for him he's just a young guy doing his best to please everyone,he sings his heart out,and he loves what he does ,he loves his family,his friends he needs these people in his life,Fame doesn't bring you happiness that comes from being loved,and loving others.

Deletetotally agree. i have a feeling Scotty does what Scotty wants . he is a very smart young man . Josh Turner takes his career slow and steady and enjoys time with his family he runs his career it doesnt run him . Scotty is lucky that he won idol his carrer shot right out of the gate what takes other artist years to achieve Scotty has done it a year so i think Scotty will be just fine if he paces himself and enjoys the ride . i believe he will be around for along time .im sure his life will become a little more private just as other famous artist as time goes on .but i think Scotty will always be some what of an open book to bis fans he loves us like no other artist . thats why i love him so much . im 47 and i have never in my life followed any artist this diligent and i probley never will again . i want to keep Scotty around forever i really want to watch him grow up and take country music by storm and become one of the greats he is well on his way .im am so very proud to call myself a Scotty Mccreery fan and people may think im off my rocker but i dont pay them any mind . i feel sorry that they dont know the joy he brings to his fans . love you Scotty.

DeleteI don't think fans are pushing Scotty either....we state opinions and preferences, but no one can push Scotty or anyone else to do anything unless that person allows him/her self to be pushed....and I don't think Scotty allows others to push him. He seems to be comfortable with the pace he's set for himself and has good family support to help him sort through priorities...We're just not important in respect to path Scotty takes...while he wants to please his fans, he is showing that he's smart enough not to be pushed into anything he's uncomfortable with. Why can't we just comment here about our perspective and leave each other alone? I just don't get other fans telling each other how we should think, speak or act. It's crazy. The comments are open for us to comment on the topic, not take each other apart for differing opinions. It is ridiculous to expect that all of Scotty's fans shd all think exactly the same...what about live and let live...agreeing to disagree and respecting others right to different opinions even if we think their wrong.

Deleteok then practice what you preach. to say he needs to break away from his roots hometown and make music that really has nothing to do with who he is as person makes no sence . country music is based on the artist life journey they all sing about what they have lived threw and Scotty is only 18 so his music fits his journey it doesnt seem real and true to go around singing about stuff that you cant relate to country the media would tear him apart if he starts singing about things that a much older artist would sing about . if a fan makes a comment about how he should stop singing about what he is passionate about its very hard to just sit back and not respond . its like its never enough . I have and enjoyed everything he has done . I love his perspective in his music that reflect his youth that's why I'm a fan . its hardly believable for him sing about heart break and hard ship . so this is my opinion and I'm sure some people may not like the way I think and I'll get commented on . I also think its ok to disagree with comments on this site . I personally think he's handling just fine. What I was trying to say is that one can just express their thoughts, opinion etc...without directly attacking another fan. Why do we need to respond to another fan at all? If we disagree, we disagree...I'm not suggesting that anyone withhold their own response or opinion about the topic or what they think Scotty shd be doing, etc.; it just seems pointless to me for us to argue and get all bent out of shape with each other when we differ in opinion. It just doesn't serve any purpose that I can see. Funny thing is that I've often disagreed with Scotty's song choices, career path etc. but I've been wrong ever time anyway. Scotty seems to have a keen sense for what will work best for him. He takes what is just a so-so song IMO and makes a hit out of it...and I typically come to love it...It's kinda like he pics songs that are pretty good, not great (IMO) but he then grows into it and as his comfort w/ performance of the song increases it becomes a powerful performance that I like more each time I hear it(ILYTB for eg). I would have picked YMTLG before WTT but Scotty will probably prove me wrong again...I'm still hoping for YMTLG for the next video after WTT...but what do I know other than what I like?...But for those that think WTT was the better choice, I'm cool with that...and for those that think he needs to move career away from Garner a bit, I can respect that perspective as well. Sometimes I don't get other's perspectives at all, but I can simply state mine without chastising a fan who I don't relate to or attempting to deny em a right to their own opinion. It's not like getting up-tight or self-righteous w/another fan is going to change their opinion...and really, why wld I want or need to? God grants me permission to be as wrong as I need to be; who am I or any of us to deny other's that right when we think they're wrong?
DeleteWell personally, I think that Scotty proved on AI that he can sing any song and make it beliveable. After all he won doing just that. You don't have to live or experience hardships, heartache, etc. to know that it exists you only need to be aware of what is going on around you. When you have the heart that Scotty does, it is easy for him to sing about those things without having lived them himself. And, if every artist experienced everything they sing about, they wouldn't have the time or be in any kind of shape to record the song to begin with. I read that Scotty said in an interview that Water Tower Town is a performance video, so even though it will include his water tower town, it will also give those fans who want to see him do something outside of Garner that opportunity. Best of both worlds, I say; and another good decision by our Scotty.

ReplyDeleteto do with were he lives at all,also the Trouble with girls has absolutely nothing to do with his home town either.it's about girls ,and puppy love a sweet video for teenagers.it was filmed in his home town with his friends,instead of actors,and the did a fantastic job.The results a Cmt .award for best new video of the year.Fantastic.To me the song WTT.is really the only song related to his home town,and he want's to sing about it,he deserves this so everyone relax ,and enjoy it,and let's hope it does well for him.I really believe once they give him some radio time ,and he gets the video out there I think this song will go gold just like the other two songs.
Got to help Scotty get that platinum for his single ILUTB. I don't know what the numbers are on the sales of this single. It can't be too far from one million sales. Love U Scotty.
DeleteWTT is about small town America - anyone living in a small town can relate to this song in different ways - i grew up in a "water tower town" - so did both my parents and grandparents and some of my friends - it's not about only the town of Garner, NC - the lyrics are so relatable for anyone who lives or who grew up in a small town/place like Garner - some people relate to the water tower - this song just reminds me of my roots, my childhood days - I also look for water towers to use as landmarks or guides when I am driving through different small towns -

DeleteSooo tired of all the fan brat comments and plans for Scott Mccreery that I see plastered all over the net. This is what Scotty should do next-This is whom he should like or remain loyal - He needs to record this next. Stop this people please. Yes you did vote for him and elevated him to stardom quickly but that does not mean you're on the board of directors for his life. he actually has two nice parents to handle that. He seems to have a nice logical mind and just wait for the polish of a college education to add to all that kindness and talent. Proud he knows the value of friendships and loyalty and the power of respecting your hometown. Check out Virginia beach videos and see his abilities shine. Watch he and Lauren sing together in LA recently and appreciate the maturity and honor they offer to each other as young people with a past history of music and a true admiration for each others talent. Then take a high dive.

DeleteI agree that nasty comments or even weird rants are unnecessary - but fans always have some comments or express their opinions, nothing wrong with that - in a way it is feedback from the fans - ultimately we all know that Scotty and his management and label make the decisions and/or choices in his career strategy - these decisions also take in consideration fan response to his music and performances - I think Scotty's fans are just overwhelmed with excitement and pride -
