ReplyDeleteWonderful memories for these kids. My grandson is Scotty's age and he just went to his senior prom a couple of weeks ago. Hope Mike and Judy are taking all this in....the years fly by so quickly and these times are so precious. God Bless Scotty, his family and his friends.

Anyway, I hope the Garner kids have fun tonight. Went to my senior prom in 2008, and it was the BEST night of my life! Hope and pray that Gabi wins the prom queen title! (Please!) ReplyDeleteI noticed that the guys match the color of either their vest and tie or just their bow tie with the color of the gowns of their dates. Scotty is wearing violet or lilac vest that matches Gabi's gown ( top ) and so are the rest of the couples ( look at the couple right beside Scotty/Gabi and even the rest )

ReplyDeleteLooking at the suit he is wearing for the ACM awards, you can tell it is tailored for him but you know he must have rented his suit for the prom because it's a little long and big on him...but you know that he could have bought an Armani if he had wanted to but that wouldn't be his style, all the guys wanted to match with their dates and they all ended up looking fantastic and so did their dates. Happy that he got to do this with all of his friends.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures above are ones that someone else just randomly found, but I think it is AWESOME that Scotty HIMSELF tweeted a prom picture and identified each person in the picture (with their twitter name!) even though the prom is not even over yet. He KNEW that all his fans were at home DYING to KNOW WHO his prom date was so I am sure that is WHY he went ahead and tweeted the picture himself. Just another way he has shown his thoughtfulness and appreciation to his fans!! Now, I just Hope and Pray that the media doesn't ask him in every interview "Is Gabi your girlfriend?" I bet she gets LOTS more Twitter followers now!!! haha

DeleteSomeone mentioned how he probably just rented his tux like the other senior boys... I was impressed with the way him and his date just had dinner with their group of friends... It doesn't look like a fancy, expensive restaurant - it looks more like it might be in a church fellowship hall or ?? (with the ref in the corner). He could have taken Gabi to the most expensive restaurant in Raleigh, but instead they ate with their friends because his buddies probably didn't have the money for an expensive restaurant after paying for tuxs, flowers, etc.!! Just shows once again how humble he is!!
ReplyDeleteJust thought of something - obviously this is a PRIVATE location and NOT at a restaurant (since you can see a refrigerator and trashcan in the background), maybe Judy, Ashley and some of the other moms beautifully decorated the tables and had a restaurant cater a meal to them there so that Scotty could enjoy his prom dinner with Gabi and friends IN PRIVACY without fans asking for pictures and autographs???

ReplyDeleteI live in Garner and am constantly impressed with this little faith based town's reaction to all of this. It seems everybody is determined to go out of their way to give Scotty, his family, and his friends just what Scotty said he wants....some normalcy and privacy....to be treated just like pre AI....to be part of the town, not the star of it.
Gabi and Scotty were stunning, to be sure. But so was everyone else...in a very low key, understated kind of way. Be they just "friends", something more that's in the growing stage, or a young couple....its so refreshing to see their maturity and the town's reaction in giving them their privacy and some "space" to be themselves without a camera stuck in their face 24/7 and around every turn.
I pray that no ugliness comes out of this toward Gabi or Scotty...and they get to choose when to go "public" or to stay "private".
4;o8 a.m. Scotty was .and is the perfect gentlemen.He never mistreated Lauren in any way,they were friends.If she had a crush on him just like his fans do he's not responsible for how people feel or what they think.He's a kid for heaven sake that to a young girl to the prom.If he's just friends with her since they went to school together for 12 years,or if they have a crush,or like one another it's his personal life ,and it's really none of any body's business.He is a true gentlemen in every way on,or off stage.It's funny he's the kid who acts grown up, and the adults behave like kids.,It's a happy time for him let him enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteKudos to 4:08 am! Kid or not, we all have the right to choose our own mates! Even Scotty. We have all most likely been loved by someone that we just did not feel the same about and in turn have loved someone who could not love us in return; it is part of life. Can you imagine what tumultous life it would be if we loved everyone who loved us and everyone we loved in a lifetime loved us back, wow we would all be messed up in the head. And, to be quite honest I don't think that Lauren had so much of a crush on Scotty as she was just playing the game. She has a NATURALLY playful personality that sometimes comes across as being flirty but is really just her being playful. Scotty always showed his maturity and compassionate side in the way he always supported her throughout the Idol experience. I think that it is a shame the way Idol always seems to put these kids in such a position. This year it was Skylar and Dillion. As for Scotty and Gabi, I never doubted that Scotty would make a good choices in his dating life, and whether just friends or more, good choice on both Scotty's and Gabi's part, because they both could have picked any date they wished. I think the way that Scotty handled everything considering his notariaty was great, always thinking of how his actions will affect the other person. Hope they both had fun.
ReplyDeletePS: to my comments above: I am sure that if Gabi did not want the pictures tweeted, Scotty would not have tweeted them. We must not forget that we are not privy to their personal conversations and should not jump to conclusions about things we know nothing about.

DeleteSo happpy Scotty shared his Prom pictures with his fans. They all look fantanstic. Gabi is a lovely young lady. Hope she was the queen! Scotty said they had been good friends throughout their entire school years. Whether they are very close friends or something more, it doesn't matter. They make a great couple. Scotty always makes good choices, so when it comes to a sweetheart, I'm sure he will continue to make the right choice. He has plenty of time, he is 18.

ReplyDeleteI think everyone is making much too big of a fuss. I'm sure that he put a lot of thought into whom he would ask, but for heaven sakes, it was a prom date. Let these poor kids have fun and stop with reading more into the whole thing. Scotty knew if he went to prom it would surely be revealed who was his date. His only other choice would be to go solo like he did last year. Let him finish his senior year just like any other "normal" senior 18 year old. Just saying......
ReplyDeleteI read where Scotty and Gabi was seen riding around town in his truck and he took her with him to Myrtle Beach, after he won the Best New artist. So sound a little more than just a prom date. He also choose her to be his main lady in the video TTWG. They will make the ideal couple. They are both young and they have plenty years ahead of them. William and Kate Middleton made it through college before they got married. He also dated Kate for eight or nine years.
ReplyDeleteEveryone stop and don't fret. Prom dates rarely become life partners- ask any human over the age of twenty. Let them enjoy this passage of growing up and let's just appreciate Scotty and his talents. Yes we did vote for our Idol but that does not mean we own this kid. He actually has two bright parents who are making appropriate decisions for him. Eeeks stop trying to breathe for this young man. Some of this commentary is downright scary, people..
