OFFSTAGE: Scotty McCreery's SAT Scores

Written by Alison Bonaguro

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I know I should have only asked Scotty McCreery questions about his ACM nomination. But come on. Aren't you a little curious about his upcoming college life and how he ended up making the choice he did? Me, too. So when he came walking down the red carpet at Sunday's (April 1) awards show, I first asked him how he did on his SATs. "I did pretty well. The score was up there, and enough to get me into college," McCreery told me. Then I asked McCreery if he will be doing the whole college experience for real. Will he eat in the cafeteria? Be a Lambda Chi? Pull all-nighters studying for psych finals? And he said as much as possible, yes. "I've got four guys I know pretty well that I'm gonna room with. Guys I can trust. I don't know what dorm life will be like, and I for sure didn't know what a random roommate would be like," he admitted. He also told me he'd try to maintain a schedule of school during the week and shows on weekends. I know country stars are so good at balancing families and life on the road. But has anyone ever done what McCreery is going to do: balance college and life on the road?

  1. If anyone can do this Scotty can,for an 18 year old,he does everything with confidence and coolness.College life will sure be different then his protective high school life.I hope that if there are any Scotty haters there ,they don't give him a hard time.I'm glad he has friends, from Garner.

  2. I hope college works out for Scotty. Most colleges have a work at home program that he may opt to take if other students give him trouble. I can't imagine anyone hating him, but I know some people are very cruel. We must continue to keep him in our prayers.
