Taste of Country: Scotty McCreery’s Parents Weigh In on Son’s Next Single

By Billy Dukes

After releasing two ballads from his debut album ‘Clear as Day,’ Scotty McCreery supporters are hoping the singer sends one of his more uptempo songs to radio as a single. However, it’s not just fans that are calling for something a little more fun. The singer’s parents say they want an upbeat track to be chosen next as well.

A recent article in the print edition of the Raleigh, N.C. News and Observer says Judy and Mike McCreery like ‘You Make That Look Good’ as single No. 3 for their son. The Keith Urban co-written ‘Walk in the Country’ seems like another possibility, as McCreery performed it at the CMA Awards in November.

Talk of a third single may be a little premature, however, as ‘The Trouble With Girls’ is still climbing the charts. Currently, the song is at No. 23 on the Billboard chart, looking to top his debut single ‘I Love You This Big,’ which reached No. 15. Both songs should be certified gold for over 500K copies sold by summertime. ‘Clear as Day’ was just recently certified platinum.

  2. I like YMTLG as well! Though Scotty sings WITC really well, and it shows what a great country singer he is, its still to me a Keith Urban song, and I think I'd rather hear Scotty sing a song that is solely his! Seems to me, I read somewhere Keith Urban got the song to top 40, when he sang it. Maybe the next single will be BTT. Scotty hasn't been singing it on stage, so makes me wonder?? Its not as up-beat and not one of my favorites, but would likely go over well with teens.

  3. I agree. On "You Make That Look Good", Scotty sings about being a "country boy", driving a pickup truck, etc... (although I doubt that "Loretta" ever has "mud from the axle to the door"). Sounds like just the song for our 18 year old country boy! One of my fav's on the album.

  4. I love to hear him sing YMTLG it seems to showcase his voice more and I also like WITC, he done an awesome job with this at the CMAs, or BTT. I love all of the songs on the album but I think up-tempo is needed for next single. So proud of Scotty.

  6. I like "you make that look good". Of course I like all his songs but this one seems to be a good fit for Scotty. He can make this song his for sure. It's got the right mix of singing, instruments, etc. There is not a song on his cd or i-tunes that I haven't liked.

  9. Yes, YMTLG would be great although any up tempo songs on his CAD album will do just fine. Finally FOX News announced re: Scotty's album getting platinum. Took the media too long to catch-up w/ the news.

  10. Hope YMTLG will be next single. Love the piano on this song. Will be interesting to see how the keyboard guy (Jeff) handles it. Bet it will be awesome!

  11. I want "You Make That Look Good" for the next single also. Sounds macho/sexy, yet Scotty sweet at the same time! I think it will draw even more fans to him---people loved the "rockin" ones like "Gone" and "That's Alright, Mama" on Idol. YMTLG is a great guy song, too. Scotty doesn't just have teen girl fans---he has all ages and both sexes, particularly lots of young men who really like his music, too. It is wonderful that he appeals to pretty much everyone. That is the mark of a real superstar!
