  5. I noticed there are 2 sites shown to vote....do we go to both sites or just one? I voted on one site this morning, but wasn't sure if I should go to the other site and vote again??? I guess I could try it and see if it lets me, but don't want to do anything that would penalize Scotty. What to do? Thanks.

  6. FLA Grandma They said Scotty will be penalized if we vote more than once a day!

  7. Florida Grandma...both sites are actually the same voting process, we can only vote in one of the two. Once a day from all of us and those we tell and we should be able to get him nominated. Lets do this, hope all you Scotty fans have a nice day!

Since this is the most important award for our idol, since u are all in twitter, can we trend this so everybody gets the msg? Also to remind everybody that we can only vote once a day. Please....

I am so excited and at the same time nervous.

  28. Don't know if this has happened to anybody else but I selected Scotty and clicked submit. Well after that it goes to a page that says it votes been counted and asks if u wanna post to Facebook or Twitter. Well I clicked Facebook and when I did it went to my Facebook but had said I voted for Thompson Square NOT Scotty! Don't know ways going on but that needs to be fixed cause I dunno if my vote was counted for the right person and it just went wrong on Facebook or if it counted the vote towards Thompson Square. Not happy over here.

  29. @9:52 AM & (:55 AM -- A ZIP code is known in various countries as a postal code or post code -- It is a series of letters and/or numbers/digits added to your postal/mailing address (it is usually after the name of your district/region/province). All countries use this. You can search for your postal code on the internet --

    ReplyDelete
  30. @9:51 AM -- that happens to me also -- it just means that the site is "loading" -- what i do is "refresh" or leave and go back -- hope this helps -- ;)

  34. I voted this morning on my pc. I tried voting again this afternoon on my smartphone. Used a different e-mail addy (I have a few) and a different first name (one of my dogs) but it came up and said I had already voted today. I thought we could vote once a day per device, and e-mail addy but apparently not. So, in other words my husband, who has a different e-mail addy and his own computer, can't vote either. Doesn't seem right. I don't even know how they know it was the same person (kinda scary in a way).

Also, in answer to someone's question above, yes, I had trouble getting's Scotty interview to load also, the others loaded easily. I'm hoping that's because so many more people were checking out Scotty.

  37. I think Scotty can take this new artist CMA. Posts at TOC look good for him and as said, Paisley tour is perfect timing. I just hope this voting doesn't get screwed up.....it worries me about the artist getting penalized..cause if someone doesn't like one artist and wants their artist to win, they could like vote for Scotty extra times to cause him to be penalized...seems like they shd just leave it as only permitting one vote per day per IP...think their going to far and cld cause pxs...anyway, every day is impt....we've got to put it on our daily to do list as getting our one daily vote in is crucial.

  38. A ZIP CODE IS ACTUALLY YOUR TOWN OR STATE CODE WHEREBY THE POSTAL MEN CAN SORT AND DELIVER YOUR LETTERS TO FASTER. IN ASIA WE CALL IT THE POSTCODE. - Molly

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am not a US resident but I entered my zip code (postal code here) and it accepted my vote.

If anyone is having problems with the voting process (as mentioned by a poster above - it showed they voted for Thompson Square when it should have showed Scotty), please twitter or email GAC to let them know...if there is that problem they need to be made aware of it.

I think it would be a good idea to also email GAC that by penalizing a contestant, it would be very easy for a fan of another contestant to submit multiple votes for Scotty or one of the others in order to have a penalty applied against them. There is a need in this age of technology to ensure things like this don't happen. Perhaps there is something else they could do to ensure only one vote per day is allowed.

    ReplyDelete
  40. the system already auto did not allow you to vote multiple vote, it say "you have voted please come tommorrow after 12hr or 24 hr" when you vote same day second time, i have try, it is the same as the Gactv top 20 countdown we have voted for so long and scotty maintain video no. 1 at Gactv top20 every week. i voted same house 2 computor using 2 different name email both i can vote and counted my vote, 1 vote each computor, say "thank you for your vote". go yahoo, hotmail, google, open email put other name(dog, daugther) and age(above 13 yrs)

  41. We all want Scotty to win, but please be careful so as not to disqualify him. It is NOT different devices BUT ......Different IP ADDRESSES. if you use your iPad or smart phone will probably still have the same I P address. Has nothing to do with diff. email addresses. So basically different computers

    ReplyDelete
  42. Actually, I think this could be a tough one for Scotty because they have combined "new artist", with what previously, and on other shows, would be referred to as "horizon" and would have been in a different category,

Other than possibly, JT Hodges and Scotty, I believe the others would have been considered Horizon rather than "new". They have been around and making albums, sometimes for years. Most of them have put out at least two albums and have had a No. 1 hit. I think Scotty's album may have outsold them though.

This is not a complaint, just an observation, that there is some really tough competition against entertainers who have built up a fanbase for a few years where no one outhside of Garner probably even heard of Scotty even a year ago.

  43. For those of you who are not familiar with an IP address --

An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.[1] An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing.

An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a unique number assigned to every computer, router or other device connected to the Internet. These addresses tell computers where to send the data that make up Internet traffic.

    What is an IP address?

Every device connected to the public Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses consist of four numbers separated by periods (also called a 'dotted-quad') and look something like 127.0.0.1.

Since these numbers are usually assigned to internet service providers within region-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. An IP address can sometimes be used to show the user's general location.

Because the numbers may be tedious to deal with, an IP address may also be assigned to a Host name, which is sometimes easier to remember. Hostnames may be looked up to find IP addresses, and vice-versa. At one time ISPs issued one IP address to each user. These are called static IP addresses. Because there is a limited number of IP addresses and with increased usage of the internet ISPs now issue IP addresses in a dynamic fashion out of a pool of IP addresses (Using DHCP). These are referred to as dynamic IP addresses. This also limits the ability of the user to host websites, mail servers, ftp servers, etc. In addition to users connecting to the internet, with virtual hosting, a single machine can act like multiple machines (with multiple domain names and IP addresses).

A "subnet" is a smaller network of computers connected to a larger network through a router. The subnet can have its own address system so computers on the same subnet can communicate quickly without sending data across the larger network. A router on a TCP/IP network, including the Internet, is configured to recognize one or more subnets and route network traffic appropriately.

    Format

IP addresses are expressed as four groups of digits separated by dots, such as 75.162.33.191. This notation is referred to as a "dotted quad."

    Static Addresses

Some devices have static IP addresses, meaning the address is the same whenever they are connected to the Internet. Static addresses make computers easy to reach, so they're ideal for website servers.

    Dynamic Addresses

Other computers have dynamic addresses, meaning a different address is assigned to them by an Internet service provider every time they connect. Most home users will have dynamic addresses.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The key is the IP address -- you may be voting from different computers/devices at home, but maybe the IP address is the same whenever you connect to the Internet -- unless your set-up is DHCP - which means that each device has its own IP address.

I am also nervous about the multiple voting and penalizing - so I check my IP address whenever I connect using another device/server, just to make sure --

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN! :) SCOTTY SO DESERVES THIS AWARD!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I WANT SCOTTY TO WIN THIS SO BAD BECAUSE HE SO DESERVES IT. WE JUST HAVE TO PRAY THAT HE GETS IN THE FINAL 3 AND HE WINS. GOOD LUCK SCOTTY.

  46. in my house with 2 computor using one wifi internet voted both computor with different email and it say "thank you your vote submited" so both computor allow to vote per day, if you vote again the same day it will say "you have voted today" come back tomorrow, i have try many times as GACTV top 20 countdown also same thing 2 computor 2 vote per day but ACM need email i put 2 different email name for 2 computor

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think this is why it is ONE VOTE PER IP address --

-- once you register to vote -- the next time you vote, when you "register" to vote again, you won't have to type out all that info -- for example, when you type the first letter of your name, the name you used to register the first time pops up, and the same with your email address, zip code, etc.

-- so it is one vote per internet device/IP address (i think that's how it works -- the IP address assigned your device/computer is something like the postal code of the Internet, at least that's how I understand it

-- i am being really careful with this ACM voting because I don't want our Scotty to be penalized or disqualified -- this first voting is to choose the 3 finalists and then we have to vote again for the winner --

    ReplyDelete
  48. 07:12 AM post I agree with you wholeheartedly, we as fans need to make sure that we vote according to the rules and be careful with the comments on sites, we don't know who is learking around the corner. As a fan I want to make sure that I do not do anything that would harm Scotty, this is so important to him. Thanks for the info regarding register to vote because when I voted this AM it asked for my info again but it was the same info, I will try your suggestions tomorrow when I can vote again.

    ReplyDelete
  49. To Jetty, it is ok to vote from your PC, iPhone and iPad altogether. I did it with my devices and they all accepted my votes. However, only one per day.

  50. This is what is written on the page under terms & conditions:

"By voting for the ACM New Artist of the Year semi-finalists, and/or by going to this website accessible at http://www.gactv.com, you hereby accept and agree to the terms of this voting program and to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy found at http://www.gactv.com (collectively the “Terms”). If you do not agree to be bound by these Terms, do not use the website and do not vote for the ACM New Artists of the Year semi-finalists. Voting begins on January 16, 2012 at 9 a.m. ET and closes on January 30, 2012 at Noon ET. You may only vote one (1) time per day per IP (internet Protocol) address (i.e. once per computer or other electronic device capable of accessing the Internet) – daily voting sessions are based on Eastern Standard Time. The winner of each category will be determined by the fans/viewers participating in the voting feature. In the event of a tie or disqualification, the ACM reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the winner of each category."

This can certainly be interpreted in different ways, especially by people who are not as computer savvy as others. I don't know how in good conscience they can possibly penalize anyone for not fully understanding its intention. I would be curious to see the part about "penalizing"; I'm just one of those who like to see exactally how things are worded.

Also, according to Storme Warren, who emceeded the special, no matter how many votes are cast for who, that is only a portion of the vote. The industry insiders will have also have at least an equal say. According that is somewhat at odds at what is written above.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I thought we could vote on a second computer, but it would not let me. I felt awful because I do not want to penalize Scotty.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I voted for Scotty yesterday and today. Each day I have had to fill in all the info. In my e-mail address I used lower case letters. Does that matter? I want to vote everyday but I don't want Scotty to be penalized. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I am not computer savy so when I "checked" Scotty and used the down indicator to go down to "submit" my vote, I didn't notice at first that my "check" went down as well to another nominee. I finally just used the tab to proceed to "submit". Perhaps I am the only one to make this mistake but thought I'd mention it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey, gals......it would be best to ONLY vote for Scotty, wouldn't it. (We don't have to vote for 3, do we?) If we vote for 3, Scotty being one of them, and vote for 2 others, and someone else votes for the 2 others, but someone other than Scotty for the 3rd vote....it would benefit the other 2. I would say, vote ONLY for Scotty. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  55. it seems that some fan voters are having problems -- it's actually simple if you just follow the instructions on the voting site -- it says #1 click on your choice #2 register (you have to fill in the slots marked * -- #3 submit vote. once you register and fill out your name, zip, email address, your IP address is "registered" on their site, so when you go back the next day to vote again, you have to do the same steps #1 click on your choice #2 register (only the next time you vote, when you type in the first initial of your name, immediately all your info appears because you are already registered - then click on "submit/vote" --

some can vote on different devices per day because each device probably has its own IP address -- i know here at home, our main computer has its IP address, but even with the wifi routers, everybody has their own individual IP address assigned to their different devices -- anyway, it's actually simple --

just type in your email address the way you always do --

also, if you have to fill in your info again everytime you vote, then i would just do it -- in my case i do not have that problem, but maybe it has something to do with your computer set-up, technical stuff --

also, you have to VOTE FOR ONLY 1 NOMINEE -- in our case, SCOTTY MCCREERY!

as long as your vote is accepted/counted, then it's all good!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I had the same problem..it said I had already voted. My daughter voted on her laptop but I guess since we are on the same internet source in the same house, it would not allow me to vote despite a different computer. GAC needs to be aware of the inability of Scotty's or any of the others' fans to vote. Needs to be done fair and square. How do we,as Scotty's fans, notify them of these difficulties? Thanks and God Bless

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm from Canada and I use my postal code and it works fine,I still can't get his interviews to work for .

    ReplyDelete
  58. to Trisha @8:39 AM -- I don't know how your system is set up, but maybe you both have the same IP address on your computer & laptop -- but usually every device is assigned its own IP address even if you are on the same server/Internet source at home -- the IP address is assigned to each device to allow for easier/faster access to the Internet and it sort of allows for faster/easier routing of Internet traffic -- I really don't know why some voters are having this problem with different devices at home, and I can only think that maybe it is because you share the same IP address ??? -- PCs (desktop computers, laptops, iPads, phones all have their own IP addresses or should) --

to Earlene @10:58 AM -- sometimes the video clips take long to load -- could be viewer traffic, video loading, etc. --

    ReplyDelete
  59. i think that maybe the reason they are strict about using different devices each with their own assigned IP addresses, is probably to avoid crashing their system -- because obviously fans will be voting multiple times -- therefore one time per device/IP address -- so it should be that you can vote one time from a desktop, one time from a laptop, one time from an iPad, phone or other internet device -- but just one time a day -- i don't know if the email address or zip code is a factor -- it doesn't seem to be with other voters -- i would just stick to voting whichever way works -- it will say "Thank you for voting...come back to vote again...." and that means it is another vote counted --
