  4. Donna,
These are so amazing and thank-you for posting. I love You Make That Look Good, Back On The Ground (I knew he would sound amazing on these) Man of Sorrow; however, I think he sounds amazing on all of them and his band is doing great. Love!!!!!!to hear the response of the crowd to him. Our boy is on his way and one day we will all be able to look back and say we remember when we first heard him on that audition for American Idol. So proud of him and the fact the he stays true to his beliefs.

  6. Thank you so much for posting these video clips! <3 I especially LOVE the way he performed "Old King James" at this concert -- beautiful, awesome! It's one of my favorites on the album. Too much screaming! LOL I agree with Brad Paisley when he said that it is exciting to watch such a wonderful 17-year old (well, 18 now) new singer hatch...." -- I think everyone, particularly Scotty Fans, is excited about and for him -- Scotty Fever! LOL

I am not familiar with the song Man of Sorrow (I've heard Man of SorrowS) and I could not make out the lyrics in this video posted. Can anybody please "orient" me on the song? :) Thanks!

GREAT PERFORMANCE! GREAT VIDEOS! GREAT FANS! <3<3<3

  8. I believe the title of this song that Scotty and his band performed is "Man of Constant Sorrow" -- I looked it up and it's a traditional American folk song that goes way back to 1913! -- "Man of Sorrows" is a contemporary Christian song, that's why I was confused when I was watching this video.

  9. WOW! What a way to start my day!! Thanks so very much. Would love to see Scotty sometime in live concert. Wondering if he did That's All Right Mama and if anyone has a video of that?? Way to go Scotty!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

  10. OK:
    1. What a great present to wake up to.
    2. Love the crowd reaction to our boy.
    3. Those poor security guards had their work cut out for them.
    4. Did you notice that every time Scotty said the word "Baby", all the girls would start screaming.
    5. Love all the fans singing along.
    6. I'll be watching these videos over and over.
    7. Man of Constant Sorrow is from the soundtrack of "O' Brother, Where art Thou" Scotty's favorite movie soundtrack.
    8. Scotty gave a great performance, again, like that is any surprise.
    9. Love how he interacts with the band and thanks to everyone who posted videos.
    10. Scotty is doing such a fantastic job. He makes all of his fans so proud and brings them so much joy. Keep up the great work, Scotty, all your fans love you.

Thanks to every one at this site for all the great work.

  13. Karee...here is a little and interesting history of the song. I must say, as promised, Scotty is really bringing back old country -

"Man of Constant Sorrow" is a traditional American folk song first recorded by Richard Burnett, a partially blind fiddler from Kentucky c. 1913. It is argued that Burnett probably based his melody on an old Baptist hymn called "Wandering Boy” dating back to 1888 (during the potato famine, Immigrants from Ireland settled in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee giving birth to Bluegrass)

Public interest in the song was renewed after the release of the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou? as it plays a central role in the film's plot.

  14. Great! Thanks! Think Man of Constant Sorrow sounds very much bluegrass. Scotty can sing anything and we will like it. Thanks for sharing your gift with us, Scotty.

  16. Scotty is really bringing to front his faith and conviction to what and to WHOM he believes in. And this is a good thing. He is not ashamed to show to America and to the world that he is a child of God. Oh, I love you Scotty...you are a wonderful kid.

I hope he can cover this song and this is going to be a hit. It is an uptempo and radio listeners will like it.

I hope someday that he gives a little grind or dance his way a bit to some of his fast tempo songs. I know that he is still a study in progress and this will come eventually. He is still new in concerts but he has come a long long way. He is truly the AMERICAN IDOL ! PERIOD !

  17. DONNA,

I hope that you can find a clearer version of the"Man of Sorrows". I already like it. I maybe biased because it is Scotty who is singing it but it is actually true. With the arrangement that they made with the song. It came out like a contemporary song with a traditional country flavor.

  18. Thanks for that background, Denise9907 -- I thought it sounded kinda Bluegrass to me, but I was not familiar with the song. L0L -- Angela, you covered the top 10 points perfectly! All I have to say to these video clips is WHAT A VOICE!!!!!

And I feel the same as Mom4scm @9:36 AM -- I also think a lot of people who are not into country music admire and respect him not just for his talent but for his faith and conviction to what he believes in.

I believe that NOW all those skeptics in the industry are seeing what Scotty Fans saw on AI10. I also believe that all those real big country artists like Brad, Tim, Josh, Keith, and others we probably don't know about -- they also saw what we all saw and heard. Scotty is not only bringing back REAL COUNTRY but he is also bringing faith and values to the forefront.

I LOVE SCOTTY MCCREERY and he is the NEXT COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTAR!

On a note: I just wanted to say that I love the way Brad calls him "kid" "little scotty" "grasshopper" -- LOL

I cast my last vote/s before noon jan 30th and now I am all anxious for the results! #Praying.

  19. Karee, you said it all & said it well!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes. I hope. as he evolves and gets a bigger repetoire, he includes bluegrass in there. I think he's a natural for it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is for Karee,

You said it all...I hope that you can tweet these beautiful comments so that Scotty can read them ? Do you follow him? I dont have a twitter account and I love to hear good reviews about Scotty. They always say that "this and that" is now in twitter and Scotty even said that a clamor for "TP" was trending the other night but because he just completed the BP set last Sat and he still had a show in Lancaster the next night that he had to beg off (which of course we truly understand)...I dont know that all of this is happening in twitter. All the fans on this site are very warm and had all good things to say about Scotty. I hope he gets to read or listen to this. Bless all of you fans. Bless you Scotty and your family and all the people supporting him.

  22. mom4scm - I am not yet on Twitter -- I keep putting it off -- LOL -- So many fans like yourself say so many wonderful things about and to Scotty & his family -- surely somebody on their end must be reading what the fans are saying on the fan sites -- I just remembered Scotty saying last year when they were recording his debut album that they were thinking about doing covers -- Seriously, some of those songs sound super better when he sings them! I said I was not familiar with Man of Constant Sorrow, but now I keep listening to Scotty singing that song! LOL -- Love it! Love what he's doing! Love this "walk in the country" with him! LOL

WHAT A VOICE! PURE COUNTRY! COUNTRY GOLD!

  28. MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW (LYRICS)

I am the man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my days
I bid farewell to ol' Kentucky
The place where I was born and raised.

The place where he was born and raised

For six long years I've been in trouble,
no pleasure here on earth I've found
For in this world, I'm bound to ramble,
I have no friends to help me now.

He has no friends to help him now

It's fair thee well, my old true lover,
I never expect to see you again.
For I'm bound to ride that Northern Railroad,
perhaps I'll die upon this train

Perhaps he'll die upon this train

You can bury me in some deep valley,
For many years where I may lay.
And you may learn to love another
while I am sleeping in my grave.

While he is sleeping in his grave

Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger
My face you never will see no more
But there is one promise that is given,
I'll meet you on Gods golden shore

He'll meet you on God's golden shore

  32. Thanks! Personally, I love all of Scotty's music but bluegrass is not my favorite for him. I love the lyrics though.

  33. It'a a funny old world:

I'm sure if I could really hear Scotty sing the song, I would love his version. I also love the one from the soundtrack. I remember seeing the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou", everyone came out humming the tune.

The funny part is in the movie they made it look like it was being sung by George Clooney but was attributed to "Soggy Bottom Boys", also a fictitious name. It was actually sung by Dan Tyminski, who is part of Union Station, ala Alyson Krause and Union Station; the Alyson Krause who sang with Brad Paisley on Whiskey Lullaby; the Brad Paisley singing with Scotty McCreery, now singing Man of Constant Sorrow. Just thought what a small circular world is the music industry.

  37. Thank you so much Donna for posting these videos. Karee, thank you for the lyrics to, "Man of Constant Sorrow," a beautiful song. I never heard it before. Scotty's first solo concert, & he was AWESOME--brought tears to my eyes! His band did great--nice group of guys! Scotty is amazing & his voice is as pure as gold. I could listen to him sing all night. Love the way the fans responded to each song.
No doubt about it, our young man is distined for superstardom. It blesses my heart to know that Scotty keeps Jesus in the center of his life. God Bless him, family, friends!

  39. Thanks Karee for the lyrics (its a really sad song). I could not hear what Scotty was singing with that song... probably my computer. It was nice to finally hear Scotty sing "Out of Summertime" live. He really got a great response from the young girls singing along and screaming out to him! Its one of my favorites. I heard the place was packed and they had to bring in more chairs! Way to go, Scotty!! Wish I'd been the one in the extra chair! HAHA

    ReplyDelete
  40. WOW!! Anybody that can sing, in 1 hour, Country, (old, new, faith), Bluegrass, and Rock impeccably like Scotty did in the concert last night - LOOK OUT!! He is the real deal just like his idol Elvis!

On Idol when I saw him sing Elvis (as last night too), Josh Turner, Carole King's "You've got a friend" and "Kiss me or Not" by Thompson Square, and duets with Lauren as good as or better than the originals, I was in awe and the voting began in full earnest. Other than Carrie Underwood I have not voted nor had I watched the show regularly in years. Thank goodness they changed judges and brought on more interesting and nurturing judges like JLo and Steven Tyler, and kept Randy Jackson. I think they and the Idol team did a wonderful job in helping all the contestants. The judges intrigued me so I tuned in and then, as we say in our household,
    “It’s all about Scotty”!!!!

Also, let’s not forget the beautiful Christmas music he sang a month ago. .

Scotty always sings beautifully. His song placement on tour, this concert, and on
Clear As Day is wonderful. You can tell he puts a lot of thought into it. He is endearing in interviews and is quick on his feet like on Ellen's show. He is talented, funny, smart, humble, cute, and grounded with faith, family, and friends.

Thank you all for the videos and for such a wonderful fan site!!

Oh my goodness - it's Scotty Fever!!

    LOL from Connecticut

  43. TROUBLE was done as an encore. But, on the program, it was listed as 2nd last song with WITC to follow it. I've searched but can't find WITC from Lancaster, so maybe he didn't sing it. If anyone does find one, please post a link.
