Scotty McCreery Kicks off tour with Brad talks Nerves, Signs, and Tour

Here is the article Brian Mansfield tweeted me about.

Scotty McCreery kicks off tour with Brad Paisley

Scotty McCreery says he was a nervous wreck before taking the stage Thursday for the first night of Brad Paisley's tour.

The nerves I had yesterday rivaled the nerves I had the American Idol finale night," the 17-year-old singer says. Scotty and The Band Perry are support acts for Paisley's Virtual Reality World Tour 2012, which plays St. Paul, Minn., on Friday.

The performance was Scotty's first real show since coming off the American Idols Live Tour in September. That, of course, was a very different experience: "The Idol tour, I was the last person to go on; it was building up towards me," he says. "Now I'm the guy that's building up towards The Band Perry and Brad."

Scotty started off with Water Tower Town. His set included singles I Love You This Big and The Trouble With Girls, as well as You Make This Look Good, which received its live debut Thursday.

"The Idol winner was aw-shucks-adorable as he announced his debut album had just gone platinum, and was at his charming, old school best on age-appropriate tunes such as Write My Number on Your Hand and The Trouble with Girls," writes The Grand Rapids Press reviewer, Lorilee Craker.

Even though it was Brad's crowd, a few fans were there for Scotty. "I saw some signs out there, saw some fans down front." He also saw a couple after the show, when his bus driver noticed a few shivering fans who had been waiting in the Grand Rapids snow for an hour and a half in hopes of meeting the singer. "I ran out there in my sweatpants to say hey and take a picture," Scotty says. "If they're waiting that long in the snow, I'd better go meet them."

  1. I think there were more than "a few" there for Scotty!... Brian M. must not have seen the show so didn't hear all the screaming for Scotty!

Hailey, I can't get back on the chat line! It says someone else is using the same Color!

  4. "a few" was the thing that jumped out in Mansfield's article...don't think he's ever given Scotty enough credit...believe he was the first one to write he would never get radio play back when AI was nearing finale, if I'm not mistaken...Scotty keeps breaking so many records and getting awards etc....eventually everbody's gonna have to eat all their words...Scotty just makes them look foolish otherwise.

  5. Ditto to Anon's 10:12 pm. Mansfield's bias.

  6. Well I believe our Scotty has proven a lot of the naysayers wrong. I know not everyone will like him and that's alright, it is their loss b/c they are the owns missing out on on this wonderful journey Scotty is taking his devoted fans on.

Just look at all the awards he has already won and how far he has gone without the support of some people and radio stations - that is how God takes care of his children. So, they can do & say whatever they want but God has a plan for Scotty Cooke McCreery's life and nobody can stop that!

I'm just thankful that I'm around to watch the journey!
