american-idol-11.jpg
From Eonline News.  American Idol Judges confirm "Scotty McCreery" PLATINUM ALBUM STATUS. We are all SOO SOO PROUD of you Scotty!! How amazing for you.. The article is a bit lengthy, so I will only post the parts that pertain to Scotty.  To read the rest click the link at the end of the post! CONGRATULATIONS SCOTTY!!

I'm sure a press release from the label will follow, when it does we'll post it.!

From Eonline
"When a reporter countered that Scotty McCreery wasn't exactly "coming out of the gate" career-wise, Jennifer Lopez was quick to defend this year's winner. "These kids are just starting out. Give them a chance," she pleaded. "Scotty is platinum! [A long career] takes time.""

This is from Zap2it.com
The most recent "Idol" winner, Jackson would like to point out, is one of 2011's biggest music stars. "Scotty McCreery is now a platinum artist, which today is like selling 10 million records," he says. "I think the only three artists that are bigger are probably Adele, Rihanna and Gaga, if my numbers serve me correct."

  1. RJackson & JLopez have been around the industry long enough to know what they are talking about -- Randy Jackson is spot on about Scotty. And Jennifer is right when she says that these "kids" are just starting out and deserve a chance and a long career does take time, in any industry. I'm so proud of what Scotty has accomplished in 2011 and look forward to 2012. I really admire and respect that he also gives importance to his education.

  3. Those "reporters" are so jaded. For a newcomer Scotty has done tremendously well! And as for "coming out of the gate?" Well, I think he's already outside the gate! Despite what all these naysayers persist on saying, the fans think otherwise. I LOVE CAD and it is probably one of the best albums in its genre (and probably in all genres) in a long time, lyrically, musically and vocally! His next album will top this one!

  9. @10:35 - I agree but love that Jennifer Lopez was able to answer back with "He's Platinum". We can't expect his sales to be as good as Carrie Underwoods first album, because album sales have slowed down since then. Scotty hit a chord with American, and has gone platinum in 3 months of releasing his first album. That's amazing, and with upcoming AI appearances, tour, radio promotion, and another single, only greater things to come!

  10. Proud of Scotty, proud of his family, friends and fans who have stood by him all throughout!

  11. I can just imagine all the songwriters pitching their songs at Scotty's camp to get on his next album! :D I might add also that it isn't fair to compare his album sales to Carrie's, simply because that was then as in years ago.

  12. Looks like our Scotty has got himself 2 NEW GUITARS -- the ACA TELECASTER, and a 1940S GIBSON GUITAR which his producer, Mark Bright gave him for CAD going Platinum! :D

  13. What a wonderful wake-up surprise this AM! Not surprised that he got it just how soon!...Just read somewhere that they count the # of albums shipped, so maybe the sales have not caught up yet?...We shall see...So proud of you Scotty!!!What a way to start, with a platinum tour!!!

    Love and prayers always!

  17. While reading these articles I'm reminded of Randy and JLo's predictions after Scotty's Milwaukee audition:
"With the right song, we discovered him...he's on his way...this kid can have a long career.."

Scotty's amassing an impressive resume and it looks like he's definitely on his way to a long career. Now he just needs the right song and to be heard on the radio. IMO the "right" song is on his CAD album, but what do I know..I'm just a fan LOL.

  18. Hmmmm...the right song?....well, there's ILYTB and TTWG and both are going great...TTWG would surely shoot to the top if only radio would play the song more! :( DD is another great song! This tour will give Scotty more exposure as a country artist, as well as his album, CAD. LOL

  21. Our we sure Scotty's album has gone platinum, because it needs to reach 1 million sells and I don't think it has yet,how do we find out forsure.

  22. To 6:55pm: From what I understand, The platinum is determined on how many albums are SOLD and shipped to retailers. Its not the number of customer sales.

  23. Just like the pic above, Garner NC should be planning a fireworks show for that ALL-American Guy!! I knew it could'nt have been much longer for the album to go, that's right, can we say PLATINUM!!! CONGRATS SCOTTY!!!! You are awesome....Can't wait till the show in Knoxville, TN!! My daughter and I will be there all the way from Gibson, North Carolina!!! Can't wait to see you in concert!!

  25. The RIAA determines "Gold" "Platinum" based on units shipped. The RIAA does NOT determine this based on Nielson Sound Scan numbers, rather a collection of sales across different areas. The record lable "PAYS" for certification based on UNITS it has shipped, future sales estimates. The label then informs the RIAA of it's intent to "Certify" From the RIAA website, and wiki

It’s probably worth taking a moment now to explain what we mean by ‘shipments’. We collect data directly from the record companies, rather than from the stores that sell recorded music to the final consumer. Hence, the term “shipments” as in “shipments from the record labels to the stores they supply.” Since stores can return unsold merchandise, we subtract returns so the final data you see is a net figure (keep in mind sales and shipments are virtually the same thing for digital products). Overall, “shipments” and “sales” are very similar, but we use the term shipments for accuracy. A frequent question we get is whether our data represents the whole US market, or just the RIAA member companies? Our aim is to describe the whole market, and we use independent estimates to account for the parts that are not created or distributed by the major record labels.

  28. Just happen to check in before bed to hear the good news. Don't understand the numbers; but no matter, Scotty is always platinum for me. I wish his parents peace during this tour. As a Mom whose child was an international competitor, I understand one can get very anxious. Will be praying for Scotty and his family for a happy tour. From Grandma C

  29. SCOTTY MCCREERY is certified to have PLATINUM VOICE... not just GOLDEN VOICE, WOW!!!!
As for the sceptical reporters, there will always be at least one for every successful artist, look at how they make fun at Taylor Swift & Justin Bieber, I hope people would just not hate, apperciate & congratulate these young BOMBS,!!!
You don't have to love their music, just be kind to alll, these people are succesful for good solid reason & they deserved to be respected as they are certified to be honoured as PLATINUM artist...
