CMA Country Christmas: Scotty McCreery surprises a fan, sings 'Noel'

By Andrea Reiher

Scotty McCreery has burst onto the country scene after his "Idol" win, so it's no surprise he was invited to the second annual CMA Country Christmas. One of the highlights of his appearance was his surprising a fan in the audience. The poor girl was so stunned she couldn't even look at Scotty. Awww.

Scotty then took on Christmas classic "The First Noel," which is a perfect song for his deep voice. The video below does not quite do it justice, but it was quite good. We'll post better video when we can get it.

In his pre-show interview, McCreery says of the experience, "It's incredible to be here. I watched it last year and to be here for the second show, it's incredible ... For me, they'll be seeing me sing 'The First Noel' ... it's a special one to me because I grew up singing it in church."

Scotty McCreery Adds Hometown State Fair to 2012 Tour Schedule

Scotty McCreery Adds Hometown State Fair to 2012 Tour Schedule
Scotty McCreery will spend the first two months of 2012 on the road with Brad Paisley, but the rest of his calendar is beginning to fill out as well. The 18-year-old just added the North Carolina State Fair to his touring schedule. McCreery will play the Dorton Arena in Raleigh, N.C. on October 15, 2012. Tickets for 20 dates of Paisley’s Camobunga! 2012 World Tour are on sale now. Those shows begin Jan. 12 in Grand Rapids, Mich. and continue through early March. Tickets for the October date go on sale on Monday Dec. 5 at 11AM ET through the North Carolina State Fair box office. They’re $25 each, and one will need an additional ticket to get into the fair. It’s unusual to have concerts for the state fair announced so far in advance, but fair officials wanted to make the show available to McCreery fans in time for the holidays. A pair of tickets fit in the stocking quite well … much better than a deep fried Snickers bar or an elephant ear. This past week, McCreery got into the Christmas spirit himself when he appeared on ABC’s ‘CMA Country Christmas’ special singing ‘The First Noel.’
