Scotty McCreery Inducted Into the Showdown Hall of Fame

http://tasteofcountry.com/scotty-mccreery-showdown-hall-of-fame/

It’s official: Scotty McCreery is the first Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame inductee. The 18-year-old knocked off Toby Keith‘s new song ‘Red Solo Cup’ last week to make it four wins in a row. His song ‘The Trouble With Girls’ will now be retired from the competition.

In week one of the Showdown, McCreery topped Jason Aldean‘s ‘Tattoos on This Town’ before toppling Chris Young‘s ‘You’ during his second week. Justin Moore stood in his way after that, but fans of ‘Bait a Hook’ weren’t passionate enough to unseat McCreery’s single. ‘Red Solo Cup’ was McCreery’s stiffest competition, but a late weekend surge sent the Garner, N.C. born singer to enshrinement.

Each week, two songs battle it out for a Taste of Country Showdown victory, with the winner going on to face a new challenger the following week. A song is retired after it wins four Showdowns in a row, as McCreery did.

Scotty McCreery Calls Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Invite ‘Surreal’

http://tasteofcountry.com/scotty-mccreery-macys-thanksgiving-day-parade-invite/

Scotty McCreery grew up watching the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and now he can’t wait to be part of it. McCreery joins other artists including Rodney Atkins, Shelby Lynne, Cee Lo Green, and Avril Lavigne in leading the 2011 parade from Central Park West to Herald Square in celebration of Thanksgiving. The parade will usher in the Christmas season, complete with an appearance by Santa Claus.

“I’ve always watched it every year, and now they invited me to be in it. It will be surreal and cold!” McCreery tells Taste of Country about the New York City parade. “They have me on a float. I’ll be singing and it’s just kind of a nice, simple thing. It’ll just be cool to be up there and see everybody out there.”

This will be the first year that McCreery and his family haven’t all gathered for most of Thanksgiving at the North Carolina home of one of his grandmothers.

Although he’ll miss spending time with family and friends, he says he has acclimated somewhat to his life on the road. The song ‘Back on the Ground’ on his ‘Clear As Day‘ album tells many of his feelings about missing family and friends.

“It speaks to some of what I have gone through as far as being away from home for so long,” he says. “Every kid can’t wait to get out of their town when they’re growing up. They think they’re stuck there and can’t wait to go to college or whatever. Then you leave and you [find out that you] don’t know what you are missing ’til you’re gone.”

Although McCreery looks forward savoring his downtime with family and friends this holiday season, he says he’s ready to enjoy his part in the parade to the fullest.

“I grew up watching it every year, so to be in it is pretty amazing,” he says.
