Scotty McCreery's Music Teacher Talks About Her Experience on Idol

Having trouble getting the video to work click here

Scotty McCreery’s music teacher got a taste of Hollywood when he selected her to receive an all expenses paid trip to the finale.
Meredith Clayton is a small town music teacher at Garner High School so her trip to Los Angeles was unforgettable.
“It was exciting there was a lot of attention and a lot of buzz,” said Clayton. “Like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.”
Ford paid for her entire trip and gave her access to all the shows and events surrounding the finale. She was even able to bring her mom along for the fun.
“We had tickets to both nights for the finale – we had great seats,” said Clayton. “I got to have dinner with the McCreery’s Tuesday night.”
Ford also surprised her with a Ford Focus that she’ll soon be driving around Garner.
“I won a car!” said Clayton. “Who would have ever thought -- this stuff never happens to teachers.”
Clayton also says Scotty’s exposure on American Idol has lead to some new interest in her chorus program at the school.
“Our numbers next year for rising freshmen in beginning chorus look high – so it’s like an automatic recruitment,” said Clayton.
She says her trip was a great experience, but she’s glad to be back in class getting some other students ready to possibly be the next American Idol.

Because somebody had to do it  :D

Many of those “Opry Moments” are the result of country music’s new stars, superstars and legends taking the same stage on the same night performing a wide variety of musical styles. During any given Opry show, audiences can expect the best in country, bluegrass, comedy, gospel, and more performed by Country Music Hall of Famers, Opry members who helped establish the Opry as the home of country music, revered superstars, and rising rookies just starting to make names for themselves. “The Grand Ole Opry celebrates the diversity of all the musical styles under the country music umbrella

Scotty McCreery Signs to Mercury Nashville along with Lauren Alaina

Mercury Nashville is a division of UMG (Universal Music Group)  Scotty's debut song "I Love You This Big" has sold over 172K copies in it's first week.  In general country music does NOT sell a high volume of singles, but sells albums.  While this opening doesn't smash season 7's opening week numbers of "Time of My Life" by David Cook, it's an amazing start for a country song! And does beat the last two years American Idol Winners opening sales numbers.
