5 Reasons Why Scotty McCreery is the Next 'American Idol'

Many "American Idol" fans feel James Durbin and Lauren Alaina have nothing on Scotty McCreery. The country singer from Garner, North Carolina has been "in it to win it" since the competition went full throttle. There are at least five reasons the 17-year-old will win it all.

1. Like Carrie Underwood, McCreery is the total package. When we think of an A-list music star, we think of someone with not only a great voice, but great looks. How much fun was it to watch a bunch of teenage girls rush the stage to be near the country cutie? Elvis Presley was surrounded by adoring women. Expect the same for McCreery.

GARNER -- With Scotty McCreery continuing to make the cut on "American Idol," his hometown is making plans for his return for a made-for-TV weekend tour as a top-three finalist.
The town would have less than 48 hours to put together festivities if 17-year-old McCreery, a Garner High School junior, survives Wednesday's round. The three finalists will be named Thursday and then travel to their hometowns over the weekend.
"We're not going to have much notice on this, so we're trying to plan for the things that are going to happen," said Joy Lytle, events supervisor in Garner.

Songbook of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. I had to look them up, this is from Wiki...

Their first successes were as the writers of such crossover hit songs as "Hound Dog" and "Kansas City." Later in the 1950s, particularly through their work with The Coasters, they created a string of ground-breaking hits that are some of the most entertaining in rock and roll, by using the humorous vernacular of the teenagers sung in a style that was openly theatrical rather than personal, songs that include "Young Blood," "Searchin'," and "Yakety Yak."[1] They were the first to surround black music with elaborate production values, enhancing its emotional power with The Drifters in "There Goes My Baby" and influencing Phil Spector who worked with them on recordings of The Drifters and Ben E. King. Leiber and Stoller went into the record business and, focusing on the "girl group" sound, released some of the greatest classics of the Brill Building period.[2]
They wrote hits including "Love Me," "Loving You," "Don't," "Jailhouse Rock," and "King Creole," among others for Elvis Presley.[3] They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985 and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.[4]
