  8. to poster @ December 7, 2011 12:09pm

There's nothing to it actually. The background is Scotty's hand - as he plays his guitar. At the forefront is Scotty's face as he sings. Vincent, i think, prominently displayed the I AM SECOND wristband as a testament to Scotty being a Christian artist. The wristband that Scotty usually wear is the I AM SECOND wristband that means he's either a member or a supporter of the movement that meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for GOD and for others. For them, GOD comes first. Remember that Scotty had been very vocal since day 1 about his faith, and for him singing is his way of giving back the glory to God...for sharing that talent, touching people's lives....and that for him is what he thinks his mission...not to be a superstar...not fame or fortune (i believe he was even reluctant in joining and go full steam ahead in winning the idol...it was just during the top 5 that he kind of realized he wants to win)....in a way, he's what you'll call the reluctant american idol...but God has other plans for him.

for the other poster asking about the warmth of people in North Carolina...I am not from North Carolina, but from what I can see since Scotty became a contestant, they have been supportive of him...until now...and I can understand why Scotty is reluctant to leave his hometown for Nashville and keeps coming back is, not only because of his studies, but more importantly - being there makes him grounded....he is the same Scotty there, not the American Idol...I can remember his prayer request he made to his churchmates - to pray for him that he will have the strength to overcome temptations and humility of his heart and spirit..and I think, going back to his hometown and staying with his people from time to time is his way of lessening the influence of fame and fortune that goes with the territory of becoming the american idol.

  9. @12:09 pm What a beautiful post you made. I agree with all that you say about Scotty being grounded, and choosing to stick close to home. Usually contestants after winning/ runner up who are still "Minors" they finish school through their GED - I know that Jordin Sparks did, and I'm not even sure David Archuleta who was 17 at the time he placed 2nd even bothered to get his GED. Scotty going back home, not over scheduling himself, and attending high school also says a lot about his character. I also think it says a lot about the McCreery's. I'm sure Mamma McCreery has had to fight hard for her son to be home all those Friday nights, and even this break right now. Usually the winner would still be promoting their album, or at least doing some small shows for Cash, until the larger tour starts up. Scotty is home, with friends and family enjoying being a senior in high school, and I'm sure his mamma had to fight hard to have him allowed to do this. What a great family.!
