New Short Piece From Taste of Country

Scotty McCreery Sings George Strait’s ‘Christmas Cookies’ at School Choir Concert
By: Billy Dukes | Yesterday

Scotty McCreery isn’t too big to perform with his high school choir. The 18-year-old senior joined the talented singers at Garner High School during a recent Christmas show, singing a version of George Strait‘s ‘Christmas Cookies.’

McCreery sings while his fellow Trojans just clap to the beat in this video from the show, found by fans. It’s somewhat noteworthy to see him dolled up in a tuxedo. At recent country awards shows, he’s stuck to a pair of blue jeans and maybe a jacket. But when your teacher tells you to get a tux, you do as you’re told if you want an ‘A.’

This isn’t the first time McCreery’s covered Strait’s Christmas classic. At a show to benefit the North Carolina Children’s Hospital in November, he sang the song for a sold out 1,500 seat auditorium.

The teen captures the easy swagger that Strait infuses into the lyrics, although it’s somewhat eyebrow raising to hear him sing “That’s 15 minutes for some kissin’ and some huggin’.”

Scotty McCreery, you animal.

  1. :D hahahahahaha -- this cracks me up! I had never heard of this song before, and so when Scotty sang this I looked up the original version by George Strait. I have to say that Scotty really sings this song a lot better...he brings that extra something to the song that just makes you want to hear it again and again. I think they actually wanted to hear him sing this song again, so they had him sing it at the concert. Oh Scotty, Scotty....hahahaha...

Scotty looks great in a tux but, tbh, most guys look great in a tux..at least they did at my HS prom. But no guy I know could sound as awesome as Scotty does singing "Christmas Cookies". Never heard this song before, but it's gonna be my new holiday favorite.

  6. Nothing wrong with Scotty kissin and huggin...he is 18 now. I am glad to see/hear him flirting in some of his songs, he does it well and the audience loves it.
