Josh on Scotty McCreery: "I Don't Envy Him One Bit"
Yes, the two singers sound alike, but Scotty is way too busy for Josh Turner's tastes, Josh says.

You’ve heard lots of folks compare American Idol winner Scotty McCreery to country star Josh Turner. They do sound a lot alike, right?
Though Josh tells Country Weekly columnist and After MidNite radio show host Blair Garner that he’s glad he doesn’t have Scotty’s busy life right now.
“When I see him, he’s just doing the best he can at just staying awake,” Josh says. "He's pretty busy, and I don't envy him one bit.
"He's going from here and there and everywhere, doing the music thing, finishing school and playing baseball. I got to talk to his parents a good bit, and they're pretty tired and busy. They were taking a red-eye out after the [American Country] awards show so he could be at school the next morning. . . .
"But he's kept a level head on his shoulders, and for his age and what he's been through, I think he's handled it really well, and I'm proud of him."

  1. That was so sweet. I love to see the support Scotty is getting. There was a reason Josh was Scotty's idol.

  3. I love Josh Turner and I think Scotty has picked his Idol's well. I am looking forward to this seasons AI but cant imagine it will hold the magic that last season held. Scotty was magic for me from auditions. I really look forward to seeing Scotty back on the Idol stage.

  5. Yes, 6:01, I was just thinking the same thing. Can't imagine anyone capturing our hearts the way Scotty did right from the start. I surely won't miss an episode of AI this year for fear that I might miss the one that has Scotty returning as their guest (which they surely will)...can't wait for that one!!!!

  7. Ditto 6:01; I've thought the very same thing! Also can't wait to see Scotty on AI stage but more than that, so excited to see him continue on the path he's on. This young man is a wonderful role model for others, and a very talented artist who has only begun to explore his talents.

  8. Nice to read that Josh is proud of Scotty. I agree that Scotty has a lot on his plate, but as the reigning American Idol he's doing the AI franchise proud. I love his CD and I'm so looking forward to following his post-Idol music career. As for AI, been watching since Season 1 so will continue to do so. No doubt in my mind that Scotty will perform and/or make an appearance during Season 11.

  10. I'm really not a fan of AI, and I only watched Season 10 because of Scotty. So if ever, I'll just catch any appearance or performance of his on AI 11 on YouTube. I was rather disappointed in what AI producers/judges did especially in the end. That never happened in previous seasons. I am more eager to see his performances on the Brad Paisley tour.

  11. To 10:14, I am a fan of AI, but the last few years I considered not watching anymore. I was so glad when Scotty appeared on the show, I knew he would be a star. I do agree with you about what the judges/producers did at the end (finale) it was so obvious that they were trying their hardest to get voters to change their minds, they are that desperate for a girl to win since it has been a few yrs now. I never cared whether a guy or a girl won, just who was the best person who should win...period. I know they loved Scotty, he was great for the show but the closer the Finale got the more nervous they got....this boy was a juggernaut...not to be stopped and they made a last ditch effort to sway the voting. LOL...I think they hoped the Scotty fans would forget the phone #. The person who won is the person who should have won, period. I think Jimmy Iovine knew that, too. Can't wait to see video from the Brad Paisley tour and love to see all the support Scotty is getting from Josh, Brad, Tim, etc.

  12. I appreciate Josh Turner's comments concerning Scotty's welfare. As a mother of a child once involved in competitive sports requiring much travel, choices had to be made balancing school and competitions, and it's hard. So, I'll be praying that Scotty stays well, and that he has a good holiday.

  13. 10:14 AM here - yes to post@1:44 PM - but what really irked me was the "forced duo" bit they pushed during and after - it hurt and Scotty showed such dignity throughout it all - I just never ever want to see that again -
