Scotty McCreery on Billboard's 'The Year in Chart Headlines'

After winning the 10th season of "American Idol" May 25, Scotty McCreery burst onto Country Songs at No. 32 with coronation track "I Love You This Big." The bow marked the highest launch for a brand new artist's first single since the chart converted to BDS data the week of Jan. 20, 1990.

Among new artists (unaccompanied by established acts), another musical reality program champion previously held the mark for highest Country Songs launch on an initial try. Brad Cotter, winner of the second season of "Nashville Star," charged in at No. 42 with "I Meant To" the week of May 22, 2004.

  1. Sorry, this does not have any connection to above posting.

This is re: TOC BEST COVER PERFORMANCE. I was just there and was about to submit when I noticed that Scotty's votes is now 33.03% where as when I voted earlier it was higher at 33.27%. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE EARLIER VOTE? I blinked and blinked and blinked and I still saw the same numbers in front of me? I did not submit and that's it. TOC POLL IS LOUSY. L-O-U-S-Y!!!!!

  2. I think they either penalize multiple voting or award a number of points per so many votes...not sure how they conduct the counting....

  3. Obviously there's something fishy going on at TOC. I have said this in their previous poll/s also. Same with CMT. I think (and this is just me) that for every 10 votes Scotty gets, someone else gets maybe 3-5 votes automatically. OR, they are penalizing multiple voting from the same IP/computer by giving those multiple votes to another artist. SO UNFAIR!!!! They are just after site visits!

  4. If it is a computer "glitch" in the counting (like TOC will say when you call them up and ask), well, then before they conduct a poll, they should make sure that their system can handle the response! I think some fans have given up out of frustration. This has happened before on TOC.

  5. I agree-- TOC is lousy. At least GACTV makes the voting rules clear and that way all votes are counted properly and fairly! TOC just says to vote until their deadline. I feel like crashing their site!

  6. TOC voting is reported as percentages, therefore, any change in the votes for any artist will affect the percentages for other artists unless all artists are receiving the same number of votes for a particular period of time. Anyway, this is how I am understanding it....but I could be wrong???? I am just happy that Scotty is "walking away" with the new artist category.
