ABCnews.com: Top 11 Breakout Stars of 2011

Scotty comes in at number 8

8. "American Idol" champ Scotty McCreery's debut album, "Clear As Day," has sold more than a half million copies and has been at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart since its October release. In 2012, McCreery will head out on tour with Brad Paisley.

"You're going from reality TV star, and you have to cross that bridge to country music singer," McCreery told Robin Roberts earlier this year. "So I've gotta work hard and try to make that bridge and try to go across to being that country music singer and staying on the charts and staying around for awhile to make music."

  1. I think I speak for everyone who comes to this site in saying that Scotty will always be #1 in our hearts. Such a sweet, humble young man, and a perfect role model for kids and adults as well. I just love this kid and wish all the best for him. He's always on my prayer list.

  2. I agree, but #8 is kudos for Scotty seing that he best Adele (she is tops on sales and awards for the year 2011)who came in at #11. This goes to show that they were looking for more than sales and awards. Scotty is so special.

  3. Oh, I know what happened!!! There was a little
computer glitch with the numbers 1 and the
number 8. Somehow it got switched,
Scotty McCreery should have been number 1

and a gentlemen named Ryan Gosling should have
been number 8 I think they are very sorry for
their error. No one is perfect except Scotty McCreery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Wow!!! Look at Rumor Mill's early sales predictions for this week!! Scotty may be giving up the number one spot again to LA, but that's ok...He'll be Platinum real soon!!!

Michael Buble easily holds on to the #1 spot as he prepares for this weekend's SNL appearance. Adele will land her 40th non-consecutive week in the Top 3, just six weeks shy of tying the record set by Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill." Lady Antebellum gets an early Christmas present as Own the Night re-enters the Top 5. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:

    Michael Buble (Reprise) 440-460k
    Adele (XL/Columbia) 260-280k
    Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 150-170k

  13. I think Scotty is doing really great for the "newcomer." Most of these singers have struggled to get to where they are now (there are a few exceptions), e.g., recording contract, name recognition, etc. I think Scotty's next album/single/s should top CAD.
