That Old King James!
this is not related to any upcoming appearances Scotty will be making but this was just me thinking....I was listening to THAT OLD KING JAMES Today and i was thinking that that should be his next Music video! Its one of those songs that showcase his great storytelling qualities!

I love all twelve songs but his next single needs to be an uptempo song. Any of his songs would make a great video.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love slow to mid tempo songs, I agree with 8:11PM that Scotty's next single needs to be an upbeat song liked WWT or WITC.
ReplyDeleteI love "Old King James" in fact its probably my favourite. However, I too, think maybe the next single should be upbeat. I keep seeing WITC as a choice for scotty's next single. I'm likely alone in my opinion, but the lyrics to this song IMO, do not suit an 18 yr old, e.g. 'take off my tie', 'turn off the TV' and 'take a walk'. Yikes!! Plus the song has already been released once. I waited patiently for OOST to be released when it was leaked some time ago and was all over the internet. I love the drums in the song and, of course, Scotty singing it. I think his choice of song needs to reach out to his huge fan base and not be too specific like WTT is. So, for me, that leaves OOST or YMTLG. It will be interesting to see what he chooses.

ReplyDeleteBill Gaither needs to have Scotty appear in one of his "Homecoming" videos and sing "That Old King James" I am hoping for a uptempo song for his next single.

Scotty did sing OKJ on Opry Live. It was great. When I hear YLIBTT I picture him singing to ALL his loyal fans.

ReplyDeleteNext single definitely needs to be one of the uptempo numbers. Need to have something that shows what he can do with this type of song and needs a variety. Remember how well he did on Idol with Gone and Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not. He does a great job know matter what he sings and I love to hear Scotty sing any of these songs but he has had two ballads and it is time for a change. Liked the idea of OKJ christian radio.

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of Scotty appearing on a Gaither Homecoming Special. One of my favorite specials was the Country Bluegrass Homecoming with Vince Gill. Also, my favorite Gospel Country/Bluegrass group, the Isaacs, also appeared on that special.
Vince Gill produced one of Sonya Issacs' albums. And, guess who wrote the current single that Martina McBride is singing? "I'm Going To Love You Through It"..written by Sonya Issacs of the Isaacs.
So, it appears that Vince Gill knows Bill Gaither. And, the Issacs know Vince, and Martina. It's a small, small world. Can anyone else hear Scotty singing this in his little helium induced voice? Haha
Anyway, it a matter of time. Hopefully, there will be a CMA and Dove award. In our boy's near future.
I love that song but Scotty needs to get one of his upbeat songs out there next time like WTT or WITC.THIS IS OFF THE TOPIC but have you guys notice that Scotty has a ton of friends ,that just goes to show you what a great guy he is.

He will need a lot of votes to get past this - something like LLMD at about 67%, TTWG at about 28%.
No idea how LLMD got so many votes...don't think it's ever been that high before.
When Scotty sings TOKJ, BOTG, DD, & CAD you can't help but stop whatever you're doing and just listen to his fantastic storytelling skills. But I agree the next single should be uptempo. I love every dang song on this album, but my hit pick is YLIBTT.

ReplyDeleteI love all the songs on CAD and Old King James is my most favorite, but I do agree that the next single should be up tempo. My favorite up tempo songs are YMTLG and WMNOYH. I do think Write My Number on Your Hand is more of a summertime song so I vote for You Make That Look Good.

ReplyDeleteI agree that an uptempo song is needed for the next single. As it will be fall/winter time, I don't think OOS or WMNOYH would do as well right now. My vote is for Walk in Country or You Make that Look Good. These are great songs and would get more radio play. I keep calling my radio station to request TTWG. I love TTWG and am hoping with the video release it will get more spins.

ReplyDeleteI prefer Scotty´s ballades and cannot rank them and on Youtube CAD gets most views. But I agree with above posts Scott needs an up beat single. On YT the up beat songs like OOS or YMTLG get most hits
ReplyDeleteI'd nix the WITC cover as the next single simply because of the inevitable comparisons to Keith Urban's version which you KNOW will happen. But Scotty scottified the heck out of this song & I love it. It's a hit single for sure, just don't think it should be the next one.
ReplyDeleteThe choice of a song might relate to the tour. That said, maybe Urban's song was chosen for this reason.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I wish he could have his favorite, Water Tower Town; but for the girls, You Make That Look Good is great and easy to remember.
I tear up with his Mama when listening to Dirty Dishes, but then the whole album is special.
I feel it need to be up beat -- joy Scotty has for living in Garner and your school is what makes Scotty who he is. That is what we all love about him the young mand nest door. But then knowing Sc0tty no matter what we want he will know which is best. I vote for Water Tower Town
ReplyDeleteI vote for YMTLG for the next release. I love all of his songs, but WMNOYH is a late spring/very early summer song, and OOS in a good end of Summer(August timeframe)song. I love CAD..I wondering since it mentions-.."glowing in the tan you got that summer.."Early September? Wow, not only do you have to have a great song with good lyrics, you have to keep in mind..where it fits in the season.
ReplyDeleteI wish Scotty would keep a detailed journal of his past experiences and the new ones..that he's having. It might help..when it comes to writing songs or having songs written for him.
Anyway, here's to going GOLD by Thanksgiving!
Actually my favourite is CAD but I agree with most people that he needs to release an up-tempo song. I also absolutely love YMTLG. The way he pronounces some words really shows his southern accent. I am Canadian and I just love that accent.
ReplyDeleteBTT is such a cute song and I agree with the poster who said it has a broader appeal. I can see it now - flashbacks of "young Scotty" doing all the "firsts" as Scotty sings in the foreground about a girl who is "better than that". Gee, I wonder who would play young..er younger Scotty?
ReplyDeleteI like all the songs in CAD.. all of them are good.. CAD is a very good album and scotty has done a wonderful job.. I just cannot pick any of them to be the next single..any one will do for me either its a ballad or an up tempo.. congratulations scotty for a beutiful album for us to listen to and never get bored !.. hope you'll have continuous success in the future..just remember we are praying for you.. love you scotty..
ReplyDeleteIf Urban had played guitar on the album, they could've done a WITC collaborative music video "Scotty McCreery featuring K Urban" which would've kicked everyone's butt on the top 20 countdown. I still think it can be a big hit for Scotty, though.

ReplyDeleteAll of his songs are great. I believe that his next music video should be the "Back on the Ground" as it really tells his story. When I listen to the song I reflect back to when Scotty came home to Garner and the first thing he did when he got off the airplane was to bend down and kiss the ground as he was so glad to be back on his home ground. I could really see that video play out - could even feature his mom in the kitchen, etc.....Whatever Scotty does will be great though. He just has that natural talent not often found in other country singers. He sure makes this Garner neighbor very proud of him!
